In an ideal world there'd be much more stricter laws on the ownership and use of high powered sniper rifles in the US. But this isn't an ideal world and more than likely they'll end up putting stricter laws on computer games.

The fact young children can play violent games, watch violent films and listen to heavy metal doesn't scare me, the fact any crazy bastard can buy a sniper rifle from the local shopping centre does.

What the hell are youon about?? If you are refering to his lack of caring, then apathy can be the cause of many things. But that is one hellof a sweeping statement you layted down there boy!

      I totally agree.

It is sad that for; money/Kudos with the corporations and lobbyists; the american government bases itsa policy around por barelled lame cobbkled together initiatives, which cancel changes within themselves. The Federal Govt is about as effective as something which isnt effective at all! Erm, I cant actually think of anything quite as bad as your govt.

The NRA has such power and influence in your single issue election fund raising political system that no reasoned response to the problem of guns in your country has been implemented.

Europe has no gun problem, because we dont say something stuopid like everyone has a fundemental right to own one. That is stupidity. It is steeped in the history of you people to steal the indians land, and be able to slaughter any body inteneding to take it back. You talk of the Phone Booth film, that is merely a theft of the ideas behind Liberty Stands Still. Wesley Snipes antigun film. The film was really good but didnt get major distribution or a cinema release, the reason being? Too many fingers in too many pies. Find the film watch it and learn. I get the impression that many of the cs nation posters are young, some not even of voting age. But when you get top that age for god sake USE YOUR VOTE> Learn about how your country should be run.. Cos you do have too much power as a nation for it to be decided by ex cokehead cowboy nutter elected barely by less than half of you!!! Sort it out.

Oh and I see there naming this sniper guy as some bloke who has changed his lasdt name to Mohammed, Well if this casae he brings shame upon all Muslims, adn that name, asshole sniper prick.

its unfortunate that this connection is being made... Unfortunately its also inevitable. Face it... thats the way the media works.

That's not necessarily true is it. What about that German kid who shot up his school? Europe has a gun problem, on nowhere near the scale as America but there is a problem. Even here in the UK where we have possibly the strictest gun laws in the world we still have an occasional shooting every 6months.

There still the issue in the UK over the right to use licenced hand guns and rifles for sport (shooting is an olympic event remember).

I totally agree, I did exagerrate the NO problem, however in comparison to the sorry state of affairs with our western cousins. We have virtuallyno guincrime by comparison with say A single US City. Yet they fail to see that removing the right to own one would be a beginning of a preventionof lives being lost.

This is terrible. Violent games like CS could only be one of many factors for such things. Playing "sniper games" like CS can plant (or better: unleash) a sick idea into a sick head, but I don't believe that a player learns anything relevant for real-world-sniping.

what's amusing is local dc stations aren't suggesting it at all. guess the other stations are grasping at straws as to how they can get up some sniper related news.

Let's mock the media for calling the M4A1 a sniper rifle, instead of praising at least one source of giving the OTHER side of the picture and not calling CS a murderer's tool. Do you have any perspective at all, or are you stuck in a world where CS' facts and stats are the only meaningful things available?

By role-playing, the author means playing the role as a terrorist or as a CT. By sniping, she means shooting from a concealed place (which I agree isn't what always happens in CS, but sniping has nothing to do with scopes or distance).
i'd almost care what rizzuh had to say, but i don't. i don't even have CS installed cause q3 is better, so CS stats aren't life to me like the hopeless 12 year olds that play CS 20 hrs a day.

also notice how the article starts off talking about people training with games but just ends with them talking about "cyber sports" and how big it is, they lost focus of their own article and turned it in to CS propaganda

                              Yea umm.. ok

First off there is a link from games to reality. Some people do go to far. Let take for example to dungeon and draggon crap that happened. this guy killed his father over that game hmm.

not putting cs down cuz i love it but there is a link to some cases of violence.

they haven't id'ed the gun, but they have id'ed the round that the sniper uses, which apparently can be used in all sorts of rifles from hunting rifles to automatic assault rifles. Its in Time magazine or something.
