DC Sniper and Counter-Strike?

Tis bad news all this crazyness in DC, i feel for you ppl.

I hope he/she is an american.

I fear another country bieng raided/bombed/destroyed if he's not.

CS can't teach you anything except how to point and shoot, which everyone should know how already (maybe). Just imagine playing CS with no health bar, no ammo counts, no radar, and etc. Doesn't take a genius to reload a weapon, either. You either know how to work a gun or you don't.

The media just directs everything towards games because they need easy finger pointing, and games are an easy target. They are fuckers for it and they should learn better. It's not the games that are the problem. The problem are the people that can't tell the difference between them and reality, and the people that can't take hold of sanity...

I believe it doesn't take a genius to operate a firearm at all. Hitting something might be another issue, especially over a long range.

Not only the media need easy finger pointing. Politicians, hunting for voters, try to make use of that phenomenon, too.

First off, I will agree with everyone in that CS and videogames in general do not turn people into killers.



Second, I will disagree with anyone who says the DC 'sniper' (i prefer the term gunman, but there you go) is highly skilled.



Why?



All victims shot between 50-150 yards. None were moving targets (as far as the police has revealed). At that range, wind hardly affects a .223 round (above 300m is a VERY different story).



Using either a Colt type assault rifle or a hunting rifle (again, speculation) fitted with a scope, firing from the prone position, a shot to the head or chest is not a very hard thing to do - even doing it standing up using iron sights isn't much more difficult.



PS. To the money grabbing 'eye witness' who said the gunman had an AK-47 in a vain attempt to get the reward money - LMAO you greedy heartless moron.

Just read MSN.com (1630GMT).



Apparently the Police have arrested a former soldier and his son, and confiscated a Bushmaster rifle (Colt M16/M4/AR-15 clone) along with several .223 rounds.



Ballistics are now testing the rifle, and apparently the cops have a very strong case on the two of them.



Let's see what happens, and I hope for you Americans the gunman will be removed from the streets.



Until another person buys an assault type rifle (what possible use can one have for it other than to kill people?) and decides to end the lives of some innocent people.

U WELSH? Anyhoo, I with even my moderate military training can vouch for the accuracy of this statement and take it furtehr. poeple whoi have a gaming or tv related shootingknowledge make the worst students. Which is why the gurkhas are one of the most feared regiments in the entire world today. Reason ´being`? They havent watched cops n robbers, or have any preconceptions as to how a weapon should be handled or fired, so when in training they take to instruction EXACTLY as taught. Hence being the most proffesional infantry regiment in the wolrd(The Gurkhas are Nepalese soldiers recruited intot he British Army as a hangover from t5he colonial days when we owned 2/3s of the world... A better effort than ANY other cuntry in the history of the universe!)

Hate to burst your bubble buddy but Colt is the name of the manufacturer of the weapon. Sniper does mean to shoot unseen or some such similar like sneak and shoot without detection. Anyobne know what happened to that Ghengis guy?

As for my ability, I can group 10 rounds within 1MOA (1foot roughly) at 600yds with a 7.62mm rifle, using target sights (iron sights, NOT telescopic. So I know a wee bit about long range shooting.

I was a flight sargeant in the ATC and went ionto RAF VT when I was at uni (Offcier Cadet) i TOO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE sa80 ETC. i COULD GROUP 12 ROUNDS FROM A 7.62 MM (ELEPHANT GUN) IN THE SPACE OF A 2P COIN. i ALSO won THE ATC WING SHOOT AT BISLEY.. So I tooo know a littel about guns, what I am sayin is, (Im pissed bear with me) I still cant hit shit in CS so theres no training there

taffer, I would suggest that you shorten your profile comments to a reasonable length (a few lines at most) if you want to be able to post further. I left the quote to your 1st deleted post so others can read it without suffering through your profile yet again.



It's interesting how these sniper posts always go in the comments. There's just a natural progression.



1. Bash the media for their ignorance of details (even if they were not saying anything against CS, but were perhaps showing the other side of the story).



2. Mention that CS doesn't teach you necessary skills. Mix this with sarcastic remarks about all the supposed skills it is teaching you.



3. Talk about how skilled or unskilled the sniper is. Purport to have some intimate knowledge of weapons that allows you to have perfect knowledge of how to shoot accurately, and deep understanding of all the mysterious ways of a sniper.



4. Dissolve conversation into comments about gun control, and the evils of the West.



5. Conversation then breaks down into either people talking about their own marksmanship skills, or it goes into world politics, and inevitably someone brings up the holocaust.



If you look back what has it been, something like 2 weeks, you'll see a post referring to a story on NBC that covered the same idea, just from the other side (saying that CS likely did contribute to the sniping stuff). And hell, you might as well read the comments there as read these, because they're almost identical. Only key difference is that people started getting into politics too much there, and about 20 posts got deleted. Sure hope that doesn't happen here...



Not that I don't have opinions on any of those subjects, but honestly nobody needs to hear just another opinion that's already been stated well enough. Nor do they need to hear any bragging or any of the other crap that some of you seem to love to post.



For more useful reading, visit CNN.com's article on the recent arrests that may be related (hopefully) to these killings. For the sake of all our brothers and sisters in the MD/DC area, I sincerely hope this is finally over.
