I'm pretty sure he was blaming Canadians for the Holocaust. Thanks for asking him to clear up this matter because my simpleton brain cannot be stretched any further. Political correctness, indeed.

well first of all, me for one.. don't care too much about things that happen in the states, unless it involes ME somehow, LIKE if USA goes to war, looks like I'm heading out too.

and as for the Sniper, WOW-- why not just blame it on the movie Enemy At the gates.

And the movie I wanted to see -- The phone Booth --- has been delayed because of him, GOD DAMNED , stop shooting people till I see this movie!!

      Grrrrrr

Point is-- STOP BLAMING EVERYTHING ON VIDEO GAMES! -- oh look theres a hit and run -- lets blame Grand Theft Auto!

There are some things the media isn't terribly fond of. The military, computer games, the truth, etc...

It makes perfect sense... I mean, every time I play cs I feel completed to go out and shoot real people.

Seriously though, pointing and clicking a mouse has NOTHING at all to do with sniping. Playing Silent Scope has VERY LITTLE to do with sniping. Why? Well...pointing and clicking is fairly obvious, and Silent Scope (if you haven't played it before, its an arcade game where you aim a plastic rifle at people on the screen) does not take into ANY factors of sniping (wind, elevation, scope settings, gravity, etc) other than the little deathdot on the guy.

Conclusion? The media needs to do more research before claiming that computer games make 'professional snipers'.

Dunno if its true but my roomate(who is a gun guy) reports that the sniper is shooting from like 100 yards with some gun that uses the same bullet as the colt. He said that anyone with like an hour of training on the gun could do what hes doing. As i mentioned earlier...

seriously... everytime something big happens in the news, the media always goes nutz all over games

"games do this, games do that, i screw horses" etc etc... some of us should take what they say in a different view, but the media should too... games r not the cause for everything bad here... its just the people that can't take a hold of reality/sanity that have the problem...

All in all, Everyone should look at everything in a different perspective, especially the media.

I'm sure your roommate is standing in the vicinity taking notes during each attack, or perhaps he's with the DC ballistics and forensics dept.

Yes, the DC sniper is using a .223 caliber bullet, the same as the M16/M4 series of weapons. The sniper is shooting at various ranges, from 50 yards to an upper limit of 500 (I'm pretty sure, haven't caught up on the latest news).

As for your roommate, what kind of weapons qualifications does he have? You do realize that the police have not yet determined the type of weapon used, right?

CS teaches you everything you need to know about accurate sniping.

Except how to hold the gun, load it, aim, deal with recoil, judge distances and position yourself...

Sure, CS may be able to help you simulate some basic combat tactics but trying to link computer games to these shootings by way of "sniper's practice" is a wonderful example of Media Ignorance(tm).
