CS: CZ Delayed Again?

I agree completely!! I can't stand people who say "good game" to everything, include real life(tm) issues. I think they spend too much time with computer games, confuse themselves, and think everything in life is a game or something.



Example:

Adolescent h4x0r gamer to his girlfriend who's ditching him:

I agree to that also.... that is annoying. They can't possibly fully understand everything that's going on if they don't understand English. Spanish radio and paper translations only covers so much...

That's not true. Romans were actually very open to other cultures beliefs and teachings. When they 'conquered' somewhere they wouldn't ridicule the local teachings and beliefs, they would instead accept it into their beliefs. Yeah, I wonder what your grade is in Spanish class. Learning another language is hard and so is living in countries that don't offer as much success as America does. It's not that they don't want to learn, it's just difficult to. Ask a spanish speaker how easy it was to learn English coming from a spanish speaking country. Just accept the fact that people that speak another language are just like you and I.



And to not stray too much off topic. I can't wait for CS:CZ hopefully the wait will make it that much better.

CS:CZ delayed. Well, I can only hope that this isn't true, who knows.



I have been really frustrated with developers/marketers before, but have come to realize that often there's a lot going on behind the scenes that you don't realize. Conflicts between various parts of the organizations involved, funding issues, time issues, manpower, this part not doing their job so the rest can move on, publisher saying this, yadda yadda... it can be quite a mess. So while it doesn't make anyone happy, who knows what's going on that VALVe/Gearbox can't talk about (developers are often not allowed to talk about certain things until the product is released) and such.



I will say, once again (how many of these delay posts have there been?) that I really think more developers should follow the "when it's done" response to release date questions, and not let resellers be putting up expected release dates.

Wow, looks like I'm not the only one with this pet peeve. If you want to go tour some country, fine, get a quick translation book of common phrases and be done with it. But if you're going to f'ing immigrate, take the damn time to learn the freaking language!



People around here seem so overly worried about being "non-discriminatory" that they ignore the real problems. It's not that your typical white american hates mexicans or whatever, it's simply that we get pissed when somebody else thinks we, having grown up here, have to learn the language of some other country just to accomodate them.

Reading over Kream's post, I was thinking Russian (or somewhere in the former USSR) before he made the reference, just due to the way some of my formerly russian friends here in the USA speak. But you know, even if it's not the most absolutely perfect English, it's completely understandable, and that works for me. I'm not going to whine if a foreign speaker conjugates his verbs incorrectly. :) And I'd agree with what he said - Russia isn't so pathetically bent on making every little thing perfect for those who come there, and that's fine by my book.



The thing is, while just about everyone from non-spanish speaking countries that immigrate here learn our language, and more or less blend in with the rest of us into one community. Unfortunately, a large percentage of those from Mexico simply move into communities with other immigrants, and continue to act as if they're in the first world version of Mexico.



Not that all do this, and I've got no problem with the latinos among us that make the effort to fit in. But it's a large enough percentage that don't, and try to make us bend to their will, that it gets people pissed off. Hell, I'm even starting to see billboards that I can't read, because they're not written in our country's official language. Freaking annoying.

I would not be such an arrogant prick as to move to another country and expect them to all cater to my language, even though English is the international language. Many Europeans speak multiple languages, and when your countries are that small, it's useful to know the languages of a few others around you. Spanish-speakers aren't any dumber than the rest of the world, and they can learn the basics of another language even if it's not the easiest thing in the world.



Unfortunately, most of the ones that don't learn really don't want to learn, they'd rather just stay comfortable with what they know and expect others to make that possible. That's BS. Learning the language of another country is the price of admission, end of story.

Honestly, I wish everyone would just switch to a consistant yyyy-mm-dd format, so that everything would be sorted correctly by default, year being most important instead of multiple years getting listed together under the same day or month. Well since CS:CZ has been delayed yet again, does that mean that the 1.6 patch will be delayed? I do not see any reason to send out a patch with CZ weapons in it if CS:CZ is 8 months away from release. Granted CS does need some kind of shot in the arm to keep it going but will the CS:CZ weapons be enough to keep it going?



Are there any casual i.e. non clan players left other than the nubs that just bought the retail version? I have been playing this game for about 2 yrs now and the fun has slowly been leaving. Heck I even resorted to writing scripts (a burst fire script) to make the game harder but that does not help when you have people out there using the ever popular spray and pray tactic.



Final thought, if and when CS:CZ comes out will there be any CS fans left to play it?

There are far too many active cheats for it atm.

Valve anti-cheat has proven useless so far.

It did destroy OGC but many more have popped up.



Its the engine and unless they [gearbox] are modifying the engine

as to eradicate these cheats [which they aint] CZ is just gonna be

some game based on cs but with bots and a few more objectives.

[Id rather play the bf1942 single player, way more things to interact with etc.]



Suped up graphics aint gonna mean shit when there still sits at the heart of it a easily hackable engine.



CS is still ok to play if your in a competition LAN clan, but if you just play for fun, then you dont coz its not..anymore.

You're...well, you're an idiot. And you don't know anything, either. Cheating as a whole has declined recently, and a lot, in my experience. There are 90,832 people playing CS right now, according to gamespy, with MOH:AA coming in a close second at *cough* 8,346. In fact, the TOTAL number of people playing other games is less that half of the number playing CS alone! (128,900 - 90,832 = 38,068) To say that the game is dead is just flat-out idiotic, and being totally ignorant of the facts.



And anyway, its impossible to create an engine that runs on a persons computer that can't be hacked. Carmack gave a nice presentation about this, doesn't anyone remember?



I just can't stop laughing at the first sentence. Whew....
