Personally, I found this to be a horrible article that didn't help my aim whatsoever. MHO.
This is just part 1. Parts 2 and 3 are coming out shortly. Part 1 just explained dpi, sensitivity and the like.

since CS is bent on realism, shouldn't LUCK be a part of the game?
            Luck isn't fun though...

when you get a bunch of kills being lucky (basically how it feels to play 1.5) you can't attribute them to skill. In 1.3 you could. Good players were consistent and bad players could improve. Now good players are inconsistent and everyone is bad sometimes. Where's the fun in practicing hard only to get shot in the head by some random drunk college student?

Er... CS's aiming system is no where near reality.

Basicly all it is, is a cone coming from the crosshair and ahead of it.

When you shoot ETC the cone gets bigger.

As for the 'guide' ,didint help at all.

Aiming has become harder in CS because the guns became alot less accurate when moving etc.. Most weapons are not dead accurate anymore when running, jumping or strafing like they used to be (mp5 or P90 anyone?).. This automaticly means that there will be more lucky kills in the game from off-target spray bullets.. This however does *not* mean the game has become more n00b-friendly, or does making aiming harder mean more noob-friendly?? I don't think so.. A really skilled CS player who knows how to aim & shoot properly will still win 9 out of 10 firefights with a lesser skilled player who just fires wildly and off-target..

Lucky kills are just a little part called realisme in CS, just accept it like any real soldier in a real-life war killed by a spray bullet would, dead!

If you would've actually READ the article, or even the news post, you would have realized that this is PART 1 and that it explains sensitivities and dpi. Part 2 is coming out tomorrow.

he made a good point about low mouse sensitivity is better, ill have to try the low sensitivity and see if it helps

                      interesting idea

i remember an article a while back looking at the bullet grouping under different fireing condtions with diff weapons. If one were to scale the groupings to the size of a t/ct and apply this to the 'cone', you could probably figure out the optimum fireing rate/distance for each of the weapons. But then again, you still have to aim

                        Sensitivity = 2.2

I don't think CS has become more noob friendly at all with the changes made in 1.4. Apparently, it was skillfull to jump around like mad without reason.

I miss the accuracy of the jumping pistol shots, but it doesn't actually make very much sense to be able to jump and shoot a round out of a high calibur weapon like the Deagle into someone's face.

Back to aiming though. I have a Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical and I love it. Only problem is, whatever mousepad I use, I cannot for the life of me make a 180 degree turn without skipping (with a 2.2 sensitivity). Also, occasionally the mouse will move sporadically on its own, anyone else with this problem?

My "old" Logitech Optical Wheelmouse used to skip sometimes, but since I use the new Logitech MX300 that problem is no longer there..

Maybe it's more OS related than CS. I remember XP had the mouse acceleration issue, and I've always had that turned off, but it was never the same as it was before even if I turned all the XP crap off. Don't mind me, just rambling.

you'll want to add these to the cs command line (when running xp) if you for some reason already haven't:

                              -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel

With -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel added to your command line and mouse precision turned off in mousesetting in WinXP, the mouse behaves excactly the same in CS on both Win98 & WinXP.. I did several tests myself which showed that..

A good mouse test to do in CS is to move you mouse very slowly from left to right over a certain distance and then fast back again to the beginpoint.. If your crosshair ends up in excactly the same place as where you started there is no acceleration whatsoever (same as in Win98).. This was the case for me in WinXP after the tweaking..

So people who tell me their mouse in CS with WinXP feels different, have not tweaked their WinXP correctly, or it's just all in their head..
