So if I drop 900 bux on a new Mac I won't have to go through the overly complicated startmovie process? Nice

I wish I had an ibook though.

pretty good. my only problem with the article is that not nearly enough time was spent on compression. im still playing with settings to find the best mix between quality and performance vs. file size. F4ng's movie was 5 minutes and 300mb (the high qual. one). but it showed. the quality was outstanding. but 60mb's a minute? Frag or Die was 10 minutes and 230mb, or 23 mb a minute. but the quality difference is very noticeable. i think shooting for around 30mb a minute is the best number. that was what F4ng's med. quality vid. was. (5 mins @ 150mb) and it was much better quality than FoD. but nowhere does the article explain about the different Divx codec settings and how to use them.

secondly, you don't need Adobe Premiere. sure it would be nice to have. but video mach and virtual dub are both free and work just dandy, fyi...

I disagree. Adobe wouldn't charge people for Premiere if it were equal in power to mach and dub, instead exceeding it. The transitions blow though

If you decide to release your movie to the public be prepared to receive people's opinions.
Most important line of the whole article, I think. If more people thought about this fact, we'd have less poor quality videos in the first place. Who's going to release something they know is bad if they don't want it made fun of by the whole community? It'd also cut down on the number of flame wars we have in the comments sections (and I'm sure other sites do as well) as the movie authors try to defend the honor of their imperfect creations.

The guide overall looked fairly well done, though I found the speed setting confusing. Are you recording at say, 60fps but only using every other frame for normal playback of 30fps? Seems like it'd be easiest to get individual frams at say, 25fps for the clips you want to use in the movie, then go back and get frames at 50fps for anything you want to end up being half-speed.

Also, I wasn't sure, as I've never tried any of this before, when you attempt to play a demo back to get individual frames, will HL go as slowly as necessary for your system to process all of those frames correctly? Or can your system bog down as HL tries to go full speed, and you miss frames or suffer data corruption? Wasn't clear on this part. My system does well gaming, but the hard drive transfer rates aren't anything to write home about, so it's a question on my mind.

Today is a beautiful day, for some reason. :) I'm suddenly looking forward to the winter months...

what's a fairly good brand/built comp to d/l movies quickly?

Um, it depends more on your connection.

If you want to host them, well I don't have enough time to explain that =D

Omg, you spelt my name wrong!!!!!!!

Also, this guide is for people wanting to make a movie, not wanting to increase their qualities. In Australia we have had a huge amout of people making movies that have poor designs and bad compression.

If you download my movie you will see the quality, and its only 17mb/min =)

Darkhorse could be beta tester of the brand-new infinite ban you know. Rizzuh has been programming one.
