Gearbox have done some awesome work, so anything they do release is awesome.

It is a shame as CZ looked so complete...

Who gives a shit about CZ? Single player is like masturbation.

This is another display that Valve sucks ass, this kind of melodramatic bullshit coming months later is just typical.

I dont get it. Same old engine. Throw in some new skins, some new weapons, and some new maps (that they dont even have to make themeselves thanks to the HUGE mapping community). Why is it taking them so long? What is so hard to accomplish? Why did production cease in July? Why must so many companies be involved? Why ritual (who has yet to make one even semi-decent game)??

Anyone know how to get their money back on an amazon pre-order from last summer? CZ = Condition NEVER COMING OUT.

Now now people lets not forget that valve/gearbox/ritual has our best intrests at heart. They are only delaying the game so that the final verison may be the best possible.

It can't go from having a great game (as we have now), to having a SP version of lesser quality. That'd be a huge disappointment to all.
This theory would be right, except that with CS' current state, you'd have to actually make an effort to fuck things up more. As in, adding a Trespasser-esque aiming system. Or riot shields.

If anything, all of the development houses that had their paws on this project were probably HINDERED by the inability to actually fix the glaring problems CS has.
I think Valve are just trying to avoid disappointment, which is very understandable. If it goes wrong, they could stand to lose a lot of money and respect...
They have a game that's been milked beyond all reasonable limits, in-house mods that aren't worth shit, mod teams that put them to shame, and not even so much as a recent screenshot of a game that no one actually expects to come out anymore. A loss of respect compared to what? Their current standings?

Okay, to be fair, we don't know if Ritual somehow figured out how to make a decent game since their flurry of failures. Let's hope they did. I suppose Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 wasn't a total failure, though I thought it sucked.
Sin wasn't all that bad, really, when you got it patched up. F.A.K.K. 2 actually was pretty dismal. It was pretty hard to get into how cool some of the levels were when you had The Dumbest Fucking Plot Ever™ looming over your breasts. Head.

Still, i'll get a few quotes out of the way with this: It's at least worth giving them a shot. Like i said, it'd be pretty hard to screw up CS any more than it already is. And besides, it's not like their collective careers hinge on whether or not they can pull off a SP hack of this mud-stained excuse for a game.
Just like nobody places CS right now, because the Half-Life engine is outdated. You're brilliant.
Of course not. They play because the weight of their jizz landing on the mouse button after spanking off to their GF4s can actually gain them a headshot or 2.
Have you ever stopped to consider that a large percentage of the people currently playing CS are doing so on computers with integrated video? For the special ed kids here, this means they have no video card, just a crappy chipset on the motherboard with shared memory that is almost up to speed with the decent technology of several years ago, back when Half-Life was released. Their computers suck, so they play a fun game on an old engine that their computer can handle. Even if CS:CZ is delayed by quite a bit, it's the same type of situation.
I call bullshit, unless i see a survey suggesting that this is true. It may have been during CS' earlier days, but right now we have a surplus of spoiled punks who think it's OK for a 4 year old engine to require a GF4/p4 combo. From everything i've seen, everyone and their brother evidently has a GF4, and a parent to buy it for them. CS also runs like ass on "older" machines when there are any more than 3 players in view. Worse if someone throws the ill-concieved smoke gren.

You know the scum that play on pubs. My theory is that if low-end hardware were so prevailant, we'd have 14 out of 18 players on EVERY server bitching about "Ohhhh, i wud fucking PWN j00 if i had more tahn 30fps, yuo hardware pussy!". Either a very significant number of people like wasting money on the card of the month, or the ones that do talk way too fucking much. I'm open to either possibility.

Gooseman hasn't followed CS since b6.5.

So wait until 20th for answers... I guess the last delay (1Q03) is related to this. So hopefully the game will not be further delayed.
You're an odd one, expecting to get answers on a HL-based project. At a CPL event, no less.
BTW on the TFC/TF debate... think about TF2 like a Natural Selection game type but in a marines vs marines no-sci-fi scenario. Yep, some concepts present on NS seems a ripoff planned features for TF2.
Except, NS is (miraculously) a playable game. For us to say that NS ripped off some of TF2s features, we'd have to go out on a limb and pretend for a moment that TF2 actually existed. In a nutshell, Valve just got their asses kicked by a mod team.
