    Interview With Disk2

BombSiteX has done an interview with HLirc and HLamp creator Disk2. The interview focuses mainly on HLamp and how it came to be, but there are also interesting tidbits on the man behind the program. Here's a sneak peek:
What was the most difficult problem in creating HLamp?

The most difficult problem was probably figuring out how to interface with Half-Life without using hooks and without triggering the VALVe Anti-Cheat. Another problem initially was getting HLamp to work with Winamp 2.x and Winamp 3.0, since they use slightly different commands to do the same thing. Other than that, it wasn't all that difficult.
Sound interesting? Head on over to BombSiteX to check out the rest of the interview.

Heaven forbid that you should have to visit the main CSCentral site before using up their bandwidth...

ok for hlirc.... it was screwed up and sometimes went in console... and sometimes just minimized halflihe...

and for amp... i dont really like it, the one built into ogc is nicer... they need to take what they use it and put it for dl without the hacks

Yes, contrary to popular (gpig's) belief, I am not from Great Britain.

Well it's not smart for something like HLAmp. I mean, I assume Disk2 wants it downloaded. Other things, like skins, maps, or basically anything else its a good way to save the bandwidth. Nothing against CSC at all, but refer checking for HLAmp hosting doesn't really seem smart to me. I mean, it's less than 200 kb and it's not even their bandwidth :)

edit: It's not like they can turn off the check on a per-file basis though, so I understand.
