I noticed that if you go to the www.gamespy.com and click on tomorrow that's next to the date at the top of the page, you can view the preview. They sure did a great job of taking it down...Comment

Not for nothing, but I don't like what Ritual is doing with it at all. I could be wrong, but the graphics (models especially) look ugly compared to how GearBox had them. Also, I think Tony Hawk style would have been a lot more fun. Objectives like getting through a map with a certain amount of bullets, sounded cool. It sounded like I could improve my overall multi-player skill, by enjoying playing different scenarios in single player. Now it might just be an ugly game, with a lame story, and a typical dumb "last guy" villian type.
And what in god's name is it going to be like in league play? All these new weapons and features they are throwing into the game. Im sad because it looks like the end of CS as we know it, and I love CS how it is now (more in 1.3, but still).
Perhaps its time we all moved on to something new, but I'm not so sure if the newer versions will be able to keep the CS addiction going for me. The GearBox screenshots, the movies, the interviews with Randy Pitchford.. it all looked great and I couldn't wait to play it. Now Im looking at it as the end of my interest in CS. Sad =(
Just my 2 cents, Don't flame me.Comment

I really like this model. It's really cool, despite the gun flare being about 2 [in-game] feet away from where it should be. A whole lot better than samurai ct.

Also, I'm a huge star trek fan (going to see the movie today after finals!!!!), and I bought both Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force and the expansion pack. Ritual has taken the reigns of EF2 and I've got my hopes set high, as EF was the best game for the star trek franchise. I will probably end up buying both CS:CZ and EF2, so I hope they produce.Comment

CS fans are going to be getting a major update sometime in the beginning of the year. "V1.6 is one of the more significant updates
Beginning of the year for CS1.6. Whether this will affect when the steam beta is released remains to be seen.it's looking as though the LAW will be single-player only . at first anyway."
AT FIRST? They're honestly considering putting the LAW into multiplayer after all that. Ugh. I seriously hope they stick with the earlier decision to keep it SP only. We're adding a bot to Counter-Strike that will allow human players and teams to fill a server for practice rounds or compensate for a lack of human participants
That's definitely an interesting and noteworthy addition to CS multiplayer, though in my experience with other online games, you don't want bots to ever be on your own team. Occasionally humans vs. bots can be fun (depending on how it's done), but having them just mixed into the game is frustrating at best, and takes away from the social aspects of the game.
Hopefully server admins will realize that this isn't something you want to normally enable, but rather only in specific situations. We also had to come up with new dying animations as well. Animations like falling down stairs, ledges, or tops of buildings."
Ahh, finally, it's rather ugly seeing enemies lying flat on their backs over empty air, with only their feet barely on a rail, suspending their whole body. Hopefully this will get put into CS multiplayer as well... but we'll see.Meanwhile, Half-Life's AI is still one of the best systems around
If that is indeed true, it's rather sad. Half-Life's AI was very impressive when it was released... but shouldn't the years that have passed brought some major improvements? Some aspects of the AI in games like Hitman 2 would seem to be better, but perhaps that's just a matter of differences in play style. Going back through some of the HL stuff recently, I've been thinking about the fact that better AI is needed in SP games, so hopefully they will add a lot to those routines.
One last thought. A bunch of people always whine about the fact that it's still using the Half-Life engine. Here's a thought. Anybody checked out Tenebrae lately? It's based on the Quake I engine (just like Half-Life is), but it has all sorts of nice stuff (like per-pixel lighting, reflections, bump mapping, underwater caustics, fog, glares, animation interpolation, a modern particle engine, stencil shadow, etc).
Basically, it's built on Quake I, but has many features that Doom III has. Runs slow as hell, requires a GeForce or better video card, but the point is that you can do a LOT with an old engine. Sure, it's nice to have a shiney new engine to play with, but if you can do nearly the same stuff with what you have at half the expense of time and funding, then why not? I know some will disagree with me, but that's my thought.
Well, overall, I got mixed feelings from this preview. As always, the final product will be the ultimate deciding factor on whether these have been good decisions or not.Comment

f'n dns error i lost my post ffs!
Basically what I said was I'm disgusted at the setbacks on this game, I'd buy if good product but now it's just vaporware and going to the backburner on my list of what i'm looking fwd to. No molotovs is just stupid, taking out a good ideas is not what makes a successful product. Lots more stuff to actually PLAY, so best of luck starting from scratch....what a farce.Comment

I completely agree, the only thing bots are truly going to add is LAG. I have mixed feelings about the weapon replacements, but I would love to see the dual barettas go.Comment

CS:Cz is going to be valve's "Tiberium Sun"(now I'll prob. get flamed by C&C fanatics) when it's finally released it's horribly outdated...with a minimum of newgameplay and the new stuff not being noteworhy... a total failure...(ok that might be a little too quick a conclusion, but it certainly wouldn't suprise me)
night hawk the new "fall down stairs etc."-animation doesn't mean they will add Karma-physics or anything like it...but you will get static animations doing this(think NOLF1 and MOH people falling over railings..of course that's still better)
as far as I understand when they'll replace the optimized podbot AI with the new optimized sp HL AI, we won't get roaming bots(like playing botmatch with podbot) but rather normal SP AI...with bots standing around waiting for you to activate them(either by walking in to their line of sight or by triggered event)...which in some cases might be a good idea...but overall it will screw playability since you'll start to learn where their located...
also one thing that I strongly dislike is that they've removed the loadouts...which mean that you will use specific weapons for each mission without choosing yourself...talk about screwing playability here! and also remove one of the CS aspects that appeal to a lot of people...
all in all....I like it less and less the way the game is turning out...(can only hope they won't totally screw up MP CS )Comment

Yea another delay :). I feel like a little kid again after it just snowed and school has been delayed. IMO anything Steam powered is sure to suck. I really did not like it for the 1.5 beta. And if they do go to Steam, I wonder how long it will take them to go subscription based and then we will really see if people continue to play CS. I would rather have to download any updates myself, like now, instead of some program determining what updates are needed and then downloading them for me.Comment
chirst it's not hard to add weapons!
