    Alas, no. Pity.

Well, I hoped CS : CZ and TF2 would use the James Bond 007: Nightfire engine. It's absolutly cool ( Heavily tweaked Half Life Engine ).
TF2 is using a new engine entirely. Using the Nightfire engine would be like taking 3 steps backwards. CS:CZ needs to remain compatible with CS (unless that's changed with this recent developer shift), and thus can't move engines like that. It's looking good as it is, as far as i'm concerned - Just look at the last couple of CZ previews for confirmation of that.

I wonder if they could implement the karma math engine into CS for realistic physics

Now that would be awesome. Seeing bodys tumble over ledges.

You mean like instead of suddenly starting to drift through floors for NO APPARENT REASON? Perhaps all Valve is trying to tell us is that all CS players go to hell. Though at the speed those bodies fall, it'll take awhile to get there.

I feel quite the opposite. This change in development team seems only to be a sign of one thing: problems. Obviously, handing it over to Ritual was a step to help CZ (otherwise why would VALVe do it?) but I can't help thinking the final product may fall short of expectations as a result of the prolonged and disjointed development cycle.
On the other hand, Ritual will now get a fresh view of the game - as a game developer, certain 'inadequacies' of the game are masked by your own thinking and in the end you feel you have a great game but its plagued with bugs. Think like a programmer - you make a program, and you're sure it's bug free. That's because you know how to use the program. Let someone else use it, and the bugs will become apparent as they have no idea how to work the thing.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I totally agree and I don't see why so many are complaining. CS: CZ was not going to be compelling with the way Gearbox was handling it, in my opinion. It's too early for me to tell if Ritual's will be any better, but if they're actually making CS into a linear single player game then I am a happy man.
Definetely. The Tony-Hawk style gameplay certainly sounded promising, but it can't beat a decent single player experience.

Paul, did you map for CS: CZ as well? I know that David did.
Correction, Gearbox bought a couple of maps off me. I don't know what happened after that (well, I do - they got rid of my textures and placed fresh new ones on, as you can see in the previously-released screenshots) - whether they incorporated them into the game, or discarded them! I obviously hope the former, but prepared for the latter...

The NF engine is a great change from HL - lots of cool things which people will discover once the NF SDK comes out. Not quite Q3A or UT2003, but much more powerful than HL.

However, I don't see how porting CS to the NF engine would improve the game much - it'd be easier to improve the HL engine than transfer the whole thing across.

                hahaha

that would be funny.... (the karma engine)

you jump of the roof in CS_ASSAULT --- you hit the ground, die, and tumble.. WOOT!! lol

the models looks a little SKETCHY -- but it does look good.

I just hope that the AI in the Single-Player is up to par, because there are too many Single-PLayer games out that have hyped the AI, sayign it's SOOO GOOD... yet in fact it truly does suck.

I liked UT2K3's Bots... you cna set how smart they are, and the adapt to your tactics.. which was cool.

i am distinctily worried by them saying they're basing the ai on halflife, and all this diving round corners stuff. the single player should feel the same as the multiplayer to some extent in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to the release. That dive and shoot crap doesn't sound good though, be it single player or multiplayer.

What's funny is all those screenshots they released...with the game being "scrapped"...then those screenshots are useless. So what you actually have is screenshots that dont exist. lol.

TF2 is going to be an entirely new engine.

CS 1.6 will obviously stay as the HL engine - with minor tweaks.

Nightfire ACTUALLY uses something called the 'Valve Game Engine' - look in the credits at the beginning. Valve Game Engine? Can anyone tell me what the 'Valve Game Engine' is? Highly modified HL engine done by Valve then licensed out presumably?

And for all foo's out there dive and shoot are the ANIMATIONS, not the gameplay.

All I've ever really wanted out of Condition Zero is a good, absorbing single-player game that will suck me in the way Half-Life did when I played it for the first time. I'm finally starting to see some evidence that this is where the game is headed, so I'm quite pleased. Although the molotovs would have been cool...

I had honestly forgotten about CZ for a while ... it was just some crackpot's page with killer kittens, now I am excited for it to come out again. Everyone who still finds reason to whine about this game should just not buy it and shut their mouths. All that is ever posted here is "CS has been getting worse since beta 5.2, it sucks, VALVe sucks, etc. etc." shaddup! 1.6 seems like it is going to be well worth the wait and so does CS:CZ. Now go ahead and flame me and call me a n00b for saying all this.

I can't wait till CS2 and TF2 mainly because they better be supporting rag-doll physics. CS is the most important since it doesn't gib. Imagine if on dust as a T you go to the right out of the hallway and there's a CT crouched at the corner near the ledge. He would crumple over it and to the ground. Mainly though, imagine nuke with the CT's between those bars, heh.

Also the whole, "Headshotting someone who was against a wall means that you can only see the tip of their feet" would be gone and instead they would kind of crumple into it. Not like UT2003 karma but more like Raven Shields.
