I'm not sure whether to say I'm strong in math, or crap at it. Everything through pre-calculus was extremely easy for me, I was always on my school's math team, and always placed high enough in the regional math exams to qualify for the state math competition. The one year I was able to go (they always had them on Saturdays, but my Junior year they let me go on a Friday) instead of having a friend go for me, I placed in the top 10 for the state in pre-calculus.
Then I hit calculus my senior year in HS. I don't know if I just had bad instruction or my brain couldn't handle it, but I bombed badly. Never did homework in prior math classes (well okay, I'd do about 2 weeks a year), always got 97% or better on tests, and ended up with B's in math. It just always made sense when I saw it the first time -- until calculus. Suddenly I was getting C's and below on tests, and with no homework... ugh. Damn you Isaac Newton!
Anyway, the best way I found to do really well in college was to take a freaking heavy load (21-22 credits or 6 classes), work a part-time job, and have absolutely no life or fun until the weekends. It kept me so stressed out about having to get stuff done that I never felt like I could relax long enough to play even a few rounds of CS. Sure, my health was down the crapper that term, getting very little sleep most nights, but so long as I never started playing games, then I wasn't getting hooked again, and I got my work done.
Then on the weekends, go out with friends and make the rest of the week worth surviving through. :) And no, that doesn't mean gettting smashed every weekend, you crazed monkey twits.Comment

CS did screw over my grades pretty hard. I used to get at least a 85 average in all my classes, now I am glad to get a 65. I failed PRE-Calc hard with a 50 (I am in 11th). I loathe homework to the point that I don't do it anymore and I choose to either play CS, or go to the mall and cruise for the ladies. I really gotta stop this, there is one barrier I have to break, homework. For all you kiddies out there who arent to the point where I am at yet, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! I know you might be saying "wtf are you smoking?" I stopped doing HW. So when I went to class, the teacher was pisssed and always felt dissapointed in me. It feels worse having someone dissapointed in you than somone who is angry. So since I stopped doing HW, I started cutting Pre-Calc. You can't pass that class unless you do the HW and study at home. I'm thinking about dropping that course. Trying to make that class my last fuck up. Dammit, I have a scrim now, gotta go.Comment

In december of 2001 a friend gave me a copy of cs, and i was instantly hooked. I usually got around a 3.5 average but on the 3rd quarter progess report i had 2 c's 2d's an f and an A.. my parents were so pissed (not disappointed... lucky me!) that they took my computer away until summer. now i play cs whenever i want and i have my 3.5 again, got a 4.0 twice last year and all is well. Right now i absolutely hate school to the point where i wish i could just fail everything and play games ALL DAY LONG, but i would be a stupid ass with no job when i am older. SCHOOL SUX HARD AND I AM ONLY IN 8TH GRADE. The problem is that i am reading the forums and cs shit when i am supposed to be doing my science homework... =\ g2gComment

you people are very very strange....cs doesnt hurt my life at all. Even though i PwN everyone that i see in a cs server (mostly) and go (usually) to a 5 and 1 ratio, my life doesnt suffer. In fact it has improved. The only change cs has had is that now i dont play as many games on my computer except one (Arcanum) and it pwns all games (except cs).
