CS' Impact On Life

Seems the people over at gotFrag.com are churning out the interviews and reviews and previews, and to further prove my blatant point, they've created an article assessing the impact of Counter-Strike on players lives. The article consists of interviews of players from many different clans and skill levels. Let's take a look at one such person:

Gotfrag: What do you think of counter-strike? Is it worth dedicating so much time to?



F^Zetterlund[DG]: I used to play the game for fun because it was the most addicting game out there. You don't become good without playing ALOT. Now, I only play for the competition which is just as addicting. I try my best to handle my responsibilities in real life and on the online world. It really isn't worth dedicating your time if it is going to mess up your education and goals in life. I'm going to quit before I get to college because does affect your grades greatly and has its consequences.

Sound like you? I'll bet it does! Get the rest of the story here. I know that before I used to play Counter-Strike, chicks hated me and thought I was a nerd. Now, when they see my sexy P228 sniping or my M3 head shots, they want my first born child. I'm also president of the pathological liars club, if that means anything.

Hrm, just for the record, it's not just CS.



My grades are suffering from my gaming habit. I'ts not funny.

I should be learning now for my exams, but instead I hang out at silly websites about games or play games. After this newyear I feel real pathetic and depressed. What would you be if you spent the whole night with your borig parents and lil' sis& friends. Sure her friends were cute, but I wish i had some

Yeah, I would definitely recommend to anyone that you seriously tone down your CS habit before going to college. I sort of made the mistake of starting to play CS for the first time while in college, and it played hell with my grades.



"Hmm, I suppose I should go to class... Oh wait, there's 15 people on the LAN server, I should go join and own them all!"



An hour later...



"Oh crap, I lost track of the time... well, I can't really make it to my next class in time now, I guess I'll play a few more rounds..."



And so on. What's worse is when you've gotten into the community aspect of it all (as you all have, seeing as you're reading CSN comments), and you start to have friends that you play with regularly and such. Yeah, absolute worst thing for your grades right there.



High school is kind of a joke, though, so you can keep up a decent gaming habit while going to class and doing alright, so long as you don't have a regular job. Get to college, though, and it's just sooo easy to skip classes... heh. :)

I don't have the issue of missing class in college (because I can't play online and not many people play lan anyway), I just don't do my work because I tell myself I can't do it. Or I have a game I'm just dying to play :x

Heh, gaming used to own me. I had basically no social life, and my grades were shit. I almost flunked the 9th grade too (thank god i dident) but that was back in the day, and thigs have changed since then. I have a gf now =)



If any of you have the same problem i did, get your fucking homework done as soon as you get home, and get out as much as you possibly can. Soon you won't need games to fill your time as much as they did before

Oh, I wish that was true so much. God damn christmas break, I got homework due, and I can't stop playing CS. IT's so damn addicitive, I think its more addictie than drugs (not that I tired them). We need something like Nekostrike to remove the addicition or something.

If your reading this comments page, then your not playing counter strike. Serioussly, christmas break is almost done (if you got 2 weeks off) get your ass off that computer chair, and do your homework. It proabably wont take that much time either, and you can play cs with a clear concince after that. Hell, cs will be more fun without that weight on your shoulders.

It's called college semesters. I already did horribly in my classes. There's nothing I can do about it now. I have no homework. I start fresh next semester.

Ever since I started playing CS seriously my grades have gone to shit. I used to be making A's and B's, now its C's at best. And they thing is, I CAN'T STOP! I go home thinking "ok, I'm gonna do my homework, study for a test, THEN play CS." When I got home, i just automatically drop the backpack, go to the computer, and play CS/check out CS related sites(like CSN here). AND ITS SO FUN. I mean, homework is boring, I just never do it, no matter how much I try, i just can't stop playing CS for anything.



During the Christmas break, I would sit at the computer for DAYS, getting up to eat and go to the bathroom about once every 12 hours. Because of CS, I basically have no life.



So just a warning to all those who must be at least a little addicted to CS to be reading these comments, STOP WHILE YOU CAN! You don't have to completely stop playing CS, but schedule it in with other stuff, like homework, and STICK TO THE SCEDULE.



And, another note, IT'S JUST A GAME GODDAMNIT! If I hear about any more CS players getting pissed because they die in Virtual Reality and kill in real life, I'mgonna get pissed.



Ok, I have vented myself enough, I'm done. Whew!
