Yeah, I read that IGN list a long time ago, and remembered what garbage it was. Man was I pissed. Anyway....has anyone played C&C Generals yet?

Today i learned that game lists encourage more lists made by people who aren't completely sure they really want to make one, or if they even like the idea of making one.
The fact that the lists are bullshit has never been hidden from people. It's like claiming that wrestling is fake or that the Japanese government is fucked. They're made for gamers to geek out and talk about games they like for one reason or another. That's about it. The only real problems come when you're actually expecting the list-maker to be the final authority on the subject, which no one in their right mind does. Otherwise, you simply take it for what it is and enjoy the ride in talking about stuff you love. Maybe discover or remember an old title you'd never played or forgotten as a bonus.
Gamers simply like talking about games, and we'll take any excuse provided to do so.Comment

I thought the second mortal kombat movie was crap, especially because they changed actors/actresses with some characters.
Mortal Kombat the first movie was good i thought.
I mean, come on. At the end of the first one they are walking down this short path and Sonya is wearing a burlap bag. At the beginning of the second one, they've just finished their 30 second walk and they're all done up and neat again.
And to top it all off......Johnny Cage gets killed! Right in the beginning! Garbage!Comment

I kno you people are mad. well so am i. Half Life should be at the top 10, but CS... no. Why? Because you have to think about the completivity and the feeling it gives you. CS has many missing aspects. Not to mention it is full of MAJOR IDIOTS. The glitches, the half-witted realism, the hacking and camping and AWM whoring idiots really downgrade the game. The best games of all time should give you that warm snuggly feeling and shouldnt be infested with idiots. If you go on any CS server, you will see that it has lost its main power and has become a Quake Deathmatch. CS doesnt have its own charm. Its still a great game but it doesnt have that great feeling.
one other thing WHUT ABOUT THE ORIGINAL LEGEND OF ZELDA!!!!! GARComment

I'm definitely in the minority because I loved Final Fantasy 9 - I thought it was a great return to the same sort of gameplay mechanics of the old 16-bit era, especially my favorite of the Final Fantasies, FF2.
What kind of an idiot puts Final Fantasy X instead of FFIX on their top 5 worst games list?! I mean, well sure I respect you didn't like FFX (which I loved :) but, haven't you played FFIX?
If you placed final fantasy X on #5, you should of placed FFIX on -104.
I can accept that other people who didn't play the 16 bit FFs won't like it as much, but at least it didn't go and change the game fundamentally into an unplayable and unsatisfying piece of mush like FFX did. It'll be a long time before I pick up another FF game.Comment

there was tetris the movie? well i'll be damned. those wacky russians.
anyway, someone up there ^ said it was all subjective.
Exactly. what's a good game to me may well be absolute shite to other people. and vice versa; I hate all the C&C games but generals with a passion, but my mate adores the horrible things. But we both play CS like it was a religious duty.
Still, the IGN list is fucking weak. I've been playing games since i got my first computer about 7 years ago, which is a long enough damn time, but most of the crap on this list comes from well before then. I don't give a rats ass that mario kicked ass in 1988, in 1988 i was fucking four and had no interest in games other than "maltreat your younger sibling".
IGN have tried too hard to make this an all time list. You can't have an all time game list until the technology is not so hugely different in each generation. They should be rating these games based on how often you go back to them. For example, IGN rated tomb raider over WC2. Who the hell played tomb raider more than once? for reasons other than staring at pixellated ass. Yet blizzard managed to get an entirely new game out of WC2, and people are still damn well playing it. And Pokemon rated higher than CS. Pokemon is not a game, it's an insidious plot to beggar those of us who have younger sibs who play it.
You may totally disagree with everything I've said, but that's coz it's subjective :P Anyway, my top 5 :
1. Halflife Generations
2. StarCraft
3. GTA 1/2/3/VC
4. Civ 2/3
5. Nox
And i still play all of the old ones on this list a lot :PComment

The reason why worst 5 lists aren't as dramatic as top 5 lists because since some guy was already yelling at the games, no point in really yelling at the guy yelling at the games... You can only yell at some crazy happy guy who's praising games...
Top 5:
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries
Half-Life Counter-Strike
Half-Life Natural Selection
Half-Life
Half-Life Counter-Life
Top 5 main games/series without Mods:
Mechwarrior
Half-Life
Command and Conquer
Starcraft
Ground Control
Worst 5:
I dunno... I've never bothered to remember the worst games I've played (let alone worst 5)... All I know is, 5 seconds into a crappy game means instant exit, erase, eject, and exterminate... No more crappy game...
(going crazy with those "E" words there...
Oh, since we're talking about top/worst stuff... I can vent some bad stuff...
I REALLY HATE PEOPLE WHO USE WASD CONTROLS!!! I mean, HOLY ****... It's the worst possible control area to use... I mean the keys are staggered and how many keys do you actually need? I use the arrow keys area and I can get 18 easy to access keys... And they're even grouped nicely for each finger to reach and the groups even fit their function (all movement in one section, all light related in one section (NVG/Flashlight))... This one is just me going crazy...
OTHER THING I REALLY HATE IS DEFAULT CONTROLS!!! I mean, how many people need to be told to not use left/right arrow keys to turn instead of strafe (i know most of you don't, but SOME STILL DO)... Also, why do you have use all the way over at "e"? I'm getting more and more confused as i'm typing... man... crazy people and their crazy controls...
I dunno if my friends are just complete noobs or what, but few/none of them can properly play a game with their controls mapped well enough that they can reach all of them easily without staring at the keyboard...
Someone get me a psychaitrist... i think i'm going crazy...Comment

I can explain why we use WASD controls.
It's a matter of Form and Function.
with the WASD configuration the other digits of the hand are well positioned to access many of the other keys. Use, scoreboard, flashlight, radio, crouch, walk, jump, are all accessible with minimal extra movement. The gun "pots" are also easily available. The hand never has to move from its position.
There's more to it, though. Consider typing, such as when you're talking to your teammates. The only hand that has to move is the mouse hand. The other hand is in a perfect position to touch type. When you're done typing, you can instantly go back to moving. Those extra milliseconds can make a huge difference.
And there's also comfort to consider. For me, and many others, it's more comfortable to have your hands spread out instead of twisting your elbows to fit in what is a relatively small window (for us right-handed people who keep the mouse right next to their keyboard).
By any chance, are you left handed?I REALLY HATE PEOPLE WHO USE WASD CONTROLS!!!
I guess you really hate me, then. Strange, I'm indifferent towards you.Comment
