Is something missing here? There was this one game released, actually, 3 games, a series called QUAKE.

That's EXACTLY what I said. Quake was another huge FPS game. They alos forgot UT/Quake III Areana. Damn.

A recent top 50 songs of the last 25 years was released by VH1, inexplicably putting Eminem's "Lose Yourself" at #4.

Actually, they expanded it to the top 100 songs of the last 25 years. It's a load of shit. Metallica's "Enter Sandman" ranked very low, at number 83 I think, or lower. I forget, I saw it a couple weeks ago.



This was a fairly good Counter-Point. It was a cool topic to read about too.

Super Metroid has always been my favorite game of all time. Why? because it was just fun, and I was able to play through it more than any other game. In this case, the game actually was good and deserves a high rating for achieving all that a game should, story, character(s), level size, enemies, balance, blah blah.



What IGN did was pick games that "made breakthroughs" and games that "have great play value." Dumb. Dumb.

Don't underrate games like super Mario Brothers. I can still pick it up and play it occasionally, unlike most of its contemporaries. It's much like Ms. pac-man in that respect. I'd go so far as to say that for games that are over ten years old, playability is the only real yardstick you can use. How many times can you re-enjoy a fixed storyline? How many times can you play a game of Tetris? Mario64 was a huge leap for platform games, even the camera was interactive, but it doesn't have the playability of CS so I wouldn't rank it near as high. But yeah, lists are stupid. And I think that Rashamon is better than Citizen Kane.

the only reason y i think cs is at 83 is because its an old game. If cs was a new game and it was still compared to all those other games on the list, i would have to say that cs would definitely come in at least the first 20 or even 15.
