Okay it's good to hear that 'the bleeding have stopped', but what is VAc going to do about the false bans? VAC can't leave us here...banned for no facking reason.

Well I would assume that bans resulting from the new modules will be removed too. I'm absolutely unsure about that though. I would think so though...

Edit:
I just spoke with someone who was banned for HLamp and is now unbanned. Can anyone else confirm this?Comment

all in all i think vac is a bad idea, i mean it is keeping a lot of cheats from getting out there but theres too many false detections, and u get banned for so long for getting detected... im not a hacker so dont flame me..=\ because its not really that i want vac off its catching hackers and doing a good job, i just want the stupid false detections to a stop
im not unbanned by the false detection yet
there should be 1 or 2 time warnings especially if u can get banned til 2008...Comment

hlamp is a great little plugin, and ppl flaming you just wont appreciate the hard work put into such a thing.
If that question was directed at me:
You can either blame me or Valve, and since I wrote the program and am the only one of the two blamable parties on CS-Nation most people tend to blame me.Comment

I think this says it all. With VAC storming through counter-stike servers, and banning untill 2008, and it's only a matter of time before replacing your wonID is as simple as running a CS script writer program. Then where will the wonderful VAC be?!? Once the falsely banned group together to find a way to easily change wonID's so they can play again, it won't be long before cheaters are swapping wonID's like pokemon cards.
nice i got detected...oh well i still have my other wonidComment

Wait, so does this mean I can still use HLamp?
Thanks, Magus
By the way, I just go an email from Eric Smith saying they will revert to the old security modules while they look into the problem. I don't know what that means in terms of bans, but at least the bleeding has stopped.Comment

I don't really see the advantage of HLAmp over other winamp plugins that work via plain keyboard shortcuts (e.g. NowPlaying).
Obviousily these don't hook into half-life either, preventing silliness like this.
Valve working towards closing and blocking these types of hooks is a good thing, even if it hurts "good" tools like HLAmp. of course I'm probably bias against hlamp due to all the "HLAmp: OMG I AM NOW PLAYING BRITNEY SPEARS |||!!!!" spam I've seen.Comment

Anyone who flames Disk2 over this is a fuckin moron, its not like he made it just to get you banned when VAC was updated.
I hope they get this worked out. HLamp was a cool program, but I guess it was a good thing that I didn't get around to installing it on my new comp.Comment

Thank CSN (and cscentral) about the quick info. But just the thought of someone being banned until 2008 just because you were lisening to music is just sad. I think valve should tone down their bans a bit. I mean, who will still play Halflife1 in 2008 (hl2 & cs2
). And they should specially be careful when they release new modules out. With those big ass bans, it becomes real gay when you are banned for a faulty detection by a module they didn't Beta-test alot. I know it's good that they release Updates like each week but they are playing with peoples cdkeys. I think they should start to be more careful during beta-tests.
