But for reference, VALVe also said you couldn't with the Steam 1.0 beta, and it worked fine for me on 56k. Granted, it was slower than hell, but it still worked.

I think Valve was trying to stress that it wouldn't work like it SHOULD, since the Steam beta intentionally corrupts the cache in order to stress-test server load.

ok, you give a valid reason, why should the scoreboard stay the way its now ? at least I try to back my opinion. all you can say is: "its stupid, I don't like it. so valve should change it back."



you haven't even seen it yet. just give it a try first instead of complaining about things that will probably make the game more of challange.

Females are not a huge target market for FPS games, sorry. It's a nice theory and all, but simply put, most girls don't have a natural inclination to play games like CS. This isn't to say that some can't get hooked, but it's not the norm. The CS community is mostly guys, and will remain mostly guys. Sure, it'd be nice to have female models, but you have to realize that most of the people using them would be guys.

To begin with I didnt make the "I want tits..I want girl skins" statement because i thought it was a fatal error of 1.6beta to be released with out them...gimme a break...Its just that Valve updates alot of things for one reason or another. And why they do "this" and not "that" seems totally random to me.



With skin sites overflowing with traffic often unable to keep up with the demand, with more maps being made for this games than, i dare say, all others combined why do they ignore a NUKE MAKEOVER and the ever so popular FEMALE SKIN??

The bug fixes this time are super..and im happy..Im not bitching.about anything in 1.6..I havent even played it...im just questoning valves reasoning and the sluggish crap ass slack.



Now im debating why i think girls should get more attention from valve. w3rd..thats fun. And call me what u will, but I think you and whomever you represent are wrong when you say females are a market that should be overlooked by valve.



I do realize that girls probably make up maybe 1% of online CS players and I understand that guys pretending to be girls is kind of unappealing. But lets just consider a few things here:



1. Guys like female skins.

2. When new girls come on my server they often leave with a few fans and show up with few.

What Im saying is if a girl who can tolerate the rude in game behavior

decides to call your sever home its a HUGE draw for guys..it can be annoying, but nevertheless its a draw.

3. Girls like to chat.....And yeah some like guns and heroics.

4. CS Game play, without ANY ValVe interest whatsoever in females, has them playing more and more.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against girls playing CS. I actually wrote an article on the subject a while back that got fairly good reviews. Unfortunately, it was posted on CS World which then went down about a month later, so you won't find the actual article anymore, though google still finds the references.



Anyway, take a game like The Sims or Everquest, and you'll find a LOT more girls playing. Yeah, girls like social time -- we all do. Many online games offer various levels of social interaction, whether it's chat or voice comm or whatever. The ways they differ are in how necessary and common this is, and the style of the game.



The Sims is focused around relationships between people, essentially building a game out of a chat room, in many ways. Last time I checked the statistics, there were more female gamers playing The Sims Online (beta test) than there were guys playing it, though it was popular with both groups.



Guys tend to like action movies more than girls. That doesn't mean that girls don't ever enjoy an action movie. But when you're talking about markets, you're talking about broad categories of people, and generalizations. A generalization that has proven over the years to hold true is that action games, especially shooters, have been and continue to be totally dominated (numerically speaking) by male gamers.



Call the reasons what you want... I don't see VALVe changing that statistic with CS, as it is now. I certainly don't think that adding a female model would impact that at all. That's my thoughts, anyway.



One last thing... you call female player models and a nuke facelift "ever popular" yet I rarely if ever hear these asked for. Not that they wouldn't be nice, but I definitely didn't hear much of an outcry for changes. :)

Well there's plenty (6-7) that play on our server, and 4 of them are top notch players, compared to ur average JoeBloggs guy players.(they finish in top 5 of 32 player server if not 1st 2nd..And any fellas giving them verbal abuse eg. sexual stuff. is warned then kicked/banned.

the only ones that find it hard to swallow that 'girls' play cs are the sad gits without any girl friends.Whats the big deal..its sad when you hear these people say 'oow its a girl?!' .. like there from outerspace or summit.

We go to LAN parties with our girl friends and they play too.theres more women at these doo's now than there used to be 5 years ago, but its time the wierdo faggy type cs players get there heads around and into the 21st century, and remember ur mum was a girl and she used to kick ur ass!

Lets remember Counter-Strike itself was launched and found this valve ideal target market you speak of on its own. No projecting or analysis..just a great idea. And i dont see valve doing shit either. I think i made that clear.



The target market I speak of are a group of people that represent 1/2 of the planet. Its worth a shot. Despite what gender plays CS more or less now, we all want to see it grow. All that sims jazz has nothing to do with the fact that CS has a growing female player base.

I hear outcrys about nuke's stark ugliness when ever i play it. Its lay out is sweet. I see winternuke, despite its flaws and sightly modified layout, being a fairly popular custom..and de_nuke is played in cal finals quite a bit.
