CS is more a team play, planning and strategies game whereas UT is in your face instant gratification actioner so it makes a much better spectator game. There's also the fact that CS looks a bit shit compared to the glossy sheen of UT.
Yeah, the average MTV viewer just wants to "see people blow shit up". I can't even begin to describe how much I hate MTV (although late late at night they sometimes have good music on), so I won't go into that.

Anyway, CS is just a hard concept to sell to MTV viewers, so in all fairness MTV is just doing what's right for their audience.

Fact is, John wendel has a hell of alot of experience dealing with press. Hes done multiple interviews for real news papers, is used to being in the spotlight, and is fairly charismatic and such. Hes a hardcore gamer that isn't a dork, whereas ksharp would make the pro gaming image step back several HUGE steps had he been aired.

Sides, they don't need the CS community to watch to get ratings. theres plenty of slackjawed gawkers who will say 'rofl, pro gaming? wtf. i watch i watch', and thus ratings will pour in. Excellent.

      Hi I play quake3. Baha =]

Fatal1ty is real. It's not a lie at all, it's simply covering one player over another. Also, fat is trying to live off this stuff and Ksharp isn't. A gaming team feature would be better than a gamer feature if they covered CS, anyway.

I think the media are turned off by the "can be a terrorist and blow shit up" aspect of CS whereas UT has a more cartoony Sci-fi world that won't offend the easily offended unlike CS.
Are you retarded? UT has characters with absurdly violent backgrounds and is, pound for pound, more drenched in violence than CS could ever hope to be.

CS is also a game of watching someone play and being mystified by how he managed to hit someone his crosshair was nowhere near. It simply isn't fun to watch people play a game this poorly balanced. Ooooh, the killed someone with 1 AWP stomach shot. Wheee. Oh look, now the recoil has gained him a headshot kill after aiming at the chest. Fun times. With UT/Quake, the focus is allowed to be on the player himself and his actions instead of the wonky recoil model.

CS is also a game where tactics are evidently a new concept to most clans. Tactics in DM are personal, dynamic, quite a necessity, and have been around for quite a while. Fat has been around a while as well, and over several games he's proved to be more than a 1 trick pony. CS clanners? They're still whining about the fucking jumping change at every opportunity.

"Team" deathmatch may be a joke, but the sheer level of competition and skill that's involved with 1 on 1 deathmatches is something that merits a serious look as far as "pro gaming" goes. No idiotic clan politics, no random crap.

I don't know about him being more "charismatic", but these things alone make him the ideal person to follow for a show on "pro gaming". Following CS players would be disasterous.

Yes but it's over the top cartoon violence. They don't carry real guns they carry hair driers that shoot out lightning and goo. You shoot someone and they burst into a pile of gibs. This kind of silly violence is more acceptable than an Arab shooting a Navy SEAL with an AK47.

Apparently you never poked your head into the CPL and made all your assumptions based off the post at the OGL forums. The level of tactical play involved in counter-strike is most likely higher than any other game. I agree that f4t is a better person to follow for the MTV special for some of the reasons listed so far, but to say that counter-strike isn't on par with the competitive pro gaming of UT is just ridiculous. And what do you think people would have to say about the removal of jumping in Unreal Tournament?

I think your slanders about team gaming are a slap in the face to e-sports as a whole. Surely a professional sport is more competitive at the team level, so if pro gaming is more serious and stable at the individual 1 on 1 level, then there is much room for improvement amongst the players before the "idiotic clan politics" have diminished to the point where we see serious dedicated teams. What I'm saying is the pro gaming scene, including unreal tournament and the other deatmatch games, have a long ways to go, and to call one or the other better now is ungrounded.
