MTV To Air "True Life: I'm A Gamer"

The CPL announced that MTV's True Life: I'm A Gamer will air on Thursday, March 13. The MTV reality series followed around Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, former CS player and uber Quake champ, as he geared up for and won the recent UT 2003 CPL Winter Championship (individual category). While not neccessarily related to Counter-Strike, it still looks like something that might be worth watching.

Television does not convey the body odor of the gaming community making MTV's efforts somewhat irrelevant. Oh well.

I typically hate MTV for their pathetic shows such as The Real World and Road Rules, as well as their lovely way of playing music that I typically hate. But I must say, I may actually just watch this.

everyone pimp sites that they think need clicks. i like the idea of gaming on TV, but UT is a fairly new game. It's very popular, but doesn't have as large of a community as CS. Had they centered the show around, say Ksharp from 3D or sunman from zEx, or another cs personality, it would have a bigger effect. you'd also see more human interaction, as they react with team mates. or even if they had centered it around a whole clan.

I think the media are turned off by the "can be a terrorist and blow shit up" aspect of CS whereas UT has a more cartoony Sci-fi world that won't offend the easily offended unlike CS.

CS is more a team play, planning and strategies game whereas UT is in your face instant gratification actioner so it makes a much better spectator game. There's also the fact that CS looks a bit shit compared to the glossy sheen of UT.
