Did they fix the horrible lag causing issues? It's a good map, but it lags like crazy. Same with havana.

I just ran thru Piranesi in CS 1.6, and it looks very nice.. I really like the added eyecandy etc.. The layout has changed alot aswell.. Imho it's easier now for all the "newbies" to learn the map as the 4 possible routes are all very well marked.. You bassicly have 3 routes to go now as T, with an 4th option of the upper level..
I still think it has 1 route to many for a 5v5 clanmatch (4 where most balanced maps have 3), although there are spots from where a CT can cover 2 routes at the same time.. I think if they remove the upper level route from the map, it can easely be played 5v5 (just a suggestion)..
Anyway, the map is alot less complicated now, so noone should have trouble learning the map after a few rounds of play.. And for public servers it's (still) a fun map to play.. But you never know, as alot of people who play CS are to dumb and/or lazy to learn any map more complicated then aztec or dust..

It goes like this: The textures R nice, the whole idea is good, but the layout should be changed a bit.
I get lost on Piranesi... D:...and the enemies just pop-out-0` nowhere. I dont think a map should have that complex of a layout, its just not practical. There R WAY too many passages and routes to go about in four minuites... fiX it or we wont like it =P

Piranesi is a great map, the added foliage and simpler routes creates a much simpler, yet tactical map to offer for gamers who can actually use strategy.
For all those ignorant people who dislike the map, try using tactics - stealth, traps, decoys. It all works with this map, and adds a much realistic edge to cs.
For example; There wouldn't be many real-life situations with say 2 routes/plans to go to. It would a complex thought-out strategy full of different tactics.
The map is w00t!

Piranesi does not suck, especially the one in CS 1.6b is very cewl.. You obviously haven't played that one yet, because those layout changes are big, not just some small "growing old in 0.02 sec" updates..
The maps that suck and are already very old imho, are all the maps that only have 2 routes/chokepoints, hostage maps with all the hostages in 1 spot or unreachable before you kill all Ts (Siege & Assault), and that crap excuse for a DM map Estate.. Those are the ones that should be taken out of CS, not maps like Piranesi that *do* fit the game.. Because imho a good CS map must have at least 3 routes and/or 3 balanced chokepoints, and hostages at 2 different locations so the Ts can't camp it out in 1 spot.. CS to me is not only team-DM fun, it must also have some depth and room for strategy..
Perfect example of a good balanced CS map imho is Dust2.. 4 routes/chokepoints, both teams have an almost even chance..Comment

The newer maps like Torn, Chateau, Havana & Piranesi etc "lag" much sooner on servers that are stressed to much, and on client PCs that are stressed to much because they require more resources then the "older" maps due to more eyecandy etc.. But having a fast enough server + fast enough client PC = low ping & high fps on all maps incl. these newer ones..
So if it's ping lag (high pings), then it's the server that is stressed to much.. Solution is to find a better/faster server to play on.. If it's fps lag (low fps), then it's your PC that is stressed.. Solution is to upgrade your PC (CPU, RAM or videocard, whatever is the bottleneck)..Comment
