i dont like banning people for 24 hours for the first offense, especially since there are some false-positives going on now. i myself have been told i "hack" and how to clean my system of cheats, with the caveat being i dont have any. the first offense should be a kick, with the kick being struck from the record after a month or so, and after that the bans can escalate

People cheat to have fun. You're not having fun when you have to go a month inbetween games, only to get the ban again the next time you try cheating.



Think of cheaters as dumb little kids. When they do something wrong, give 'em a little smack. If they do it again, smack 'em a bit harder, up to a certain point. Eventually you're going to get to the point where they have associated their behavior with the smacking, and they'll knock it off. While we all hate cheating, and probably some of you have violent fantasies about what you'd like to do to cheaters, it's not about retribution. It's about changing their behavior. You don't say "sorry son, but the 4th time you steal a cookie from the cookie jar, I'm going to have to shoot you." I think you get my point.



Besides... going without CS for a month (for those who come to that) may do some of these people some good, especially if they realize there's other things to do in this world. :)



So yeah, the cheating in 1.6 has started to get pretty blatant, and it's really nice to see that VAC will be finally added to the CS 'BETA' (notice the capitalization, heh).

i got to ask sumthin. r those VAC stuffs dloaded n installed automatically to dedicated servers, or does the admin need to install them themselves? my bro had been cheating for weeks now, n nuthin happens. plus, he found out that there were many others cheating also...
