Of course, there's always that other group of people who were in favour of the gaming ban - the group that feel violent games such as CS make children less sensitive to human life

Greece is a democracy, and if the people want the law overturned, then it will be - they brought down a military dictatorship to win their freedom ffs.
        Told ya so. Democracy works.

perhaps we won't see the effects of having young people play violent/realistic/addictive/immersive games for a good deal of years yet... but if they all grow up to be ultraviolent psychomaniacs, or people lacking social skills IRL, or autistic-like weirdos, we'll know that greece was right...

                I hope not. :)

but the issue regarding what actually happens to Man when confronted with this new and powerful device, the Computer, great Alterer-of-Ways, is interesting... we probably cannot see the consequences clearly yet.

now what are they going to do about the gambling problems?
Do a law that sez gambling is illegal? Works better than to say "Oh let's stop gambling and let's stop gaming at the same time so like this everyone's fucked except me cuz I dont play games other than hopscotch"

Surely some will continue, but... That's what laws are. Illegal pirated software is illegal I remind you. Hence the illegal in illegal pirated software (for the smartest of you)

Actually, artemis, if you looked further into the law, gaming was banned not only in public, but also in private. There were several exposes on this that looked at the entirety of the law.
I have been able to buy games througout this period. The law was meant to stop illegal gambling. If they really wanted to stop private gaming, they would have also banned the sale of video games, as it would have been a pointless market, seeing as video games were illegal. I suppose this is another case of the intent of the framers v.s. the interpretation of the law. This law had no tangible effect on the private gamer.

They are not a Democracy and Democracy had nothing to do with this. They didn't vote on it or anything.
