Just ignore the hype, and don't worry about CS:CZ. If and when it does show up, then we can get all excited about playing it. But until then, it's not like the world is ending just because you can't yet play a game that you've never actually seen.
I admit, I'm a sucker for CS. I don't play many other games..my 80gig drive has CS, C&C generals and BF1942 on it, that's all. So when I hear about a new update on CS1.6 or CZ, I lap it up. The really sad thing is that when Randy Pitchford does an update, it's not just a snippet but a whole new video, and interviews giving intricate detail about his new project. Then silence for a week. Then a newsbit saying it won't be out for 9 more months. Ritual are starting to go the same way; we get a whole batch of new shots, then a day later we hear that it's delayed from "early 2003" to "Q3 2003". I don't mind hype, as long as they've got at least some of the guts to back it up.

Look at a series like Tony Hawk; about 6 months after we hear of a new one in development, we get a week's worth of hype then the game on the shelves. I'd much rather that the CZ developers went down the same route. CS is going to be hyped up however much they release spoilers, so instead of wasting their time and ours with screenshots, I would rather hear nothing then BAM! it's out for sale

Exactly. At first I was rather excited about CS:CZ, as any CS fan would be. But with all these delays, I just deicded to keep my hopes down and play something else in the meantime. I've even reinstalled Unreal Tournament, so I've been playing quite a lot of games now. Plus with an XBox and PS2, I have a large selection of games to play.

This delay hasn't been confirmed by Valve.

I read the news title and I thought they meant CS:CZ in Quake 3, lol.

But then I read up on the details and I thought to myself: ohhhh...

When are people going to realize that it is going to come out right after Duke Nukem Forever and not a moment sooner.

The thing that gets me is I've been gone for 7 months and CS 1.5 is still the official version out there. I personally will not purchase CS:CZ because there is no excuse for this long of a delay and on using such an old engine. To me it is just like what Blizzard is doing with WarCraft, milking all the possible money it can get on it without doing much.

it seems like we have had 1.5 forever, but 1.4 was gone so fast that really if it lasted as long as 1.3 or 1.2 then we wouldnt of had 1.5 as long and we wouldnt be expecting annother update so soon.

If you dont like whats going on with cs or cscz or cs2 or tf2 then make your own mod called "counter strike version 1337" and dont lt valve take over it, then you can build up your own community of 1000s of people and offer a free game with updates for years and years with only the help of your little net friends.

                  1. There never was a 1.2...

                  2. Sounds like a good idea to me...even though I don't know how to "mod," I'd play it! Just think...it would basically be 5.2 and 1.3 cocombined!.....So don't sit there and tell me that VALVe hasn't done/changed things that we don't appreciate. kthxzbai

Actually, there was a 1.2, but it was only for Retail, making it 1.0.0.2. The retail versions have two extra 0s in there for some reason.

I read in the latest CGW that apparently they went to Ritual and were impressed by what they saw, and to expect the game by May.

Like Nighthawk said, if it's here by then, great, if not, I have plenty of other games and also a social life to keep me occupied. Scratch that bit about the social life, though.

By the way, a new video preview of CZ is included with the April 2003 issue of CGW.

All signs point toward a May release date. I really don't think Vivendi Universal has any control over when Valve decides when the project is done and ready for public consumption. It'd be like Activision setting a release date for Doom 3.

it would be much better than the Quake 1 / 2 engine half life is on now

Speaking of englines, the Half-Life™ engine is seriously out-of-date. It either needs updating to a smoother, and less "boxy" look, or we could switch over to the Unreal™ engine...as if theres a chance of that

The Unreal™ engine is incredibly smooth, and the foilage looks REAL! However the rocks and cliffs still suCk. ....Any1 think a new graphics engine is begging to be made?
