    CS Radio Off the Air

CS Radio, the apparent voice of the CS community, did their last show Sunday night. You can download it right here and see what the community will be deprived of. u_suk_it no longer likes cs, and ThatHurt says that there's no CS news. ThatHurt will probably be moving to an Everquest radio show, and for that community's sake I hope he's the literate one.

I know everyone here is just waiting for my opinion on this. First of all I hope this means that the absolutely fanatical [CSR] clan can stop being a group of blind clowns that travel together with lynching rope, loose farm equipment, and boom boxes playing static until that fateful time every Sunday night when Shoutcast Radio brings them CS Radio with Steve and Van! Maybe they can do better things with their time, like boil water. There are plenty of smart [CSR] folk, but the NATO-like pact they shared with each other was just annoying. Second, if you're not in the fanatical [CSR] you probably didn't even like the show (because apparently if you liked the show, adding [CSR] to your name was compulsory).

To be honest, the show rarely dealt with the present issues in CS and was more like some sort of time-capsule pop culture hangout that lacked any sort of popular culture. Every show eventually boiled down rigid structure that amounted to a lot of commentary about why one person's way of playing is superior, a top 10, and shout-outs. For me and I'm guessing many others, that was boring. But they're leaving because there's no news in the community. CS 1.6, CS2, CSX, and CS:CZ? Again, let's be honest. This show was never about news, so the farewall "excuse" may be flawed but I think it's a bit more elegant than saying "CS SUCKS Q3 FOREVER" on their main page.

Either way ThatHurt and u_suk_it did a service to the community and that's more than I can say for most of you hideous freaks hiding within the dark alleys waiting to molest a rabies-infested animal. I say thanks to the CSR hosts, as you all should. If you happen to send them thanks, please don't tell them that they sucked like I just did above. I mean, that's pretty mean.

Rizzuh, I applaud you for your neverending ability to make me laugh my ass off.

Also, Thank You CSR for doing our community a service. Even though I've never heard it even once.

That show fucking sucked. I listened to that farewell show. I want my hour and 57 minutes back. I think it was more like a call in talk about stupid shit, act like dumbasses, and use the word fuck every five seconds. That is all. P.S their server sucks.

Not really trying to advertise but #twoflyradio is pretty cool, thats what i listen to, basically its a buncha cs players who run a radio station, its cool cause they do random giveaway's and stuff. You can do shoutouts and request and the DJ's are actually sorta funny, especially when they make prank calls to lans and things. check it out if ya wanna, if not thats cool. If you are one of those people who only do what other people do...well i saw a WeW guy in their irc channle! or just flame my post saying that i am an idiot who is obliviouse to life itself.

First, rizzuh, I thought your comments were a little bit harsh, but it's true the show had been sucking for the past few months due to the hosts' lack of interest in Counter-Strike.

Second, their reason for stopping the show was valid: they are no longer interested in Counter-Strike. I don't really blame them either, really. Can you blame them for not wanting to do a show about a game that no longer interests them?

Condition Zero has been delayed for many, many months, Counter-Strike 1.6 has been delayed, and the additional weapons really aren't all that interesting or exciting. The shield is a more significant change, but overall Counter-Strike has gotten a little stale. I still like the game a lot, but I think things are becoming less interesting as time goes on. That happens with any game though. And, comment whores, please don't say "cs will always be #1 n00b", because it won't be. ThatHurt and u_suk_it just lost interest more quickly than most players. It's not that there isn't any news, because there is. It's just that the news that is there doesn't catch their interest anymore.

Third, as you noted, rizzuh, they did do something for the community. It lasted a couple years and had some nice high points (interviews with Cliffe and The Family God, broadcasts from Recon 2000, etc). Yeah, there were plenty of low points, but at least they did something. I'm sort of glad the show is over because now ThatHurt and u_suk_it can move on to other projects that interest them more, projects they will really enjoy. Doing the show became a chore, and that's never good.

I know all you comment whores will say "omg they sucked! good riddence! I pwnz j00 btw n00b!". I'm not going to start a flamewar with anyone because you're entitled to your opinion, as am I.

Well I think linking the last show was a bad decision since only long-time listeners would have been interested in reminiscing about the past shows. It wasn't really intended to be a real informative show, from what I gathered. It was just supposed to be a final show where people could call in and say goodbye and thanks. If you didn't listen to the show up to that point of course the last show would have been boring. As for our server, what does that have to do with anything? I'm not trying to flame you. I just don't see how your opinion of the CSR server has any impact on this discussion.

Oh, and to all my fellow CSR guildmates, please don't start a flamewar here. If someone hated CS Radio, that's their opinion. In the past some CSR members have started talking shit to people on here, and that's how a flamewar starts. It seems like every news item relating to CS Radio becomes a flamewar; I'm just hoping this one won't. They really get to be annoying after a while...

Wow, that was some rant... I actually counted *2* uses of the word "culture"... now that doesn't happen a lot, does it.

Bye [CSR]adio, go [CSR]izzuh. How's that for fanaticism...

                          =)

If they're quitting because they lost interest in CS, as they are, then that's their choice and it's not like I'm displeased. In fact I'm happy that they didn't go the easy route and just blame the community for immaturity and lack of support, etc.

I find it ironic that they said there wasn't any news to report and they're departure from radio ends up as news on here. HAHAHAHAHA... Man I need to find something to do...
