HLamp really whips the llamas ass! I had to make my own alias to lower/raise volume for autopause, thanks for finally implementing it

Flooger, if you had actually figured out what HLamp does, it allows you to play music while you're dead, and automatically can pause it when you spawn again. So, no distracting music, but you get to rock out and pass the time more quickly while you're dead and just chatting. I tend to play a lot better if I'm listening to music while dead, because I don't get as frustrated, and just mellow out with the happen' tunes. :)

Am I the only one who doesn't like to listen to music while playing?

I can't concentrate that well, and I definitely can't do very well because it's impossible to listen for footsteps and other small things that really make a big difference. The only maps where I could see having music playing is the Iceworld or AWP maps. Even then it's bad because of all the gunfire; you can't even hear the songs!
No, I'm the same. I can't listen to music in CS but then again, I don't really want to. It blocks out the sound of my teammates, and nothing is more retarded than people trying to justify their sucking by stating they have no sound.

Well shit dooder, perhaps if you weren't listening to britney spears you'd be able to hear a little better.

I can't believe someone just said "dooder".

I've never seen the point in telling people what song you're listening to, either in IRC or (especially) in the middle of a computer game. I just don't understand why anyone would give a rats ass what song you're playing.
Are you kidding? 90% of all IRC scripts exist ONLY to tell people stuff they have no reason to care about under any possible circumstance. Also, 90% of the people on the internet are dedicated to using anything capable of displaying text to spit out useless shit to as many people as possible. Thanks to these marvelous creations, we don't even have to lift a finger to constantly tell people stuff they didn't want to know in the first place. That's technology.

Where would we be if we didn't have people making stupid programs with irritating functions that only morons would use? We'd be in a place where we didn't have IRC scripts that tell people when you're NOT playing on a server, that's where. And that's a goddamn dark place.

Yeah, i think we all managed to wrap our heads around the amazing space-age concepts this program is built on. If you find a need to listen to music at any time while playing CS, your attention span is that of a tomcat getting his ballhair pulled out. Christ. What kind of nimrod listens to music that they have no problems with pausing frequently?

Hey, great. With one simple program, you can create your own personal impromptu frag movie while retaining every element that makes those SUCK.

I know exactly what it does, i'm saying I think people who listen to music while playing cs have zero ground to complain about dying because of it. It's just a copout.

disk2, i had an idea when i was trying this out. i have a logitech keyboard with the multimedia buttons, so normally i just use them to control winamp. however, you still have a cool program with the auto-pause/volume stuff. what i'd like to see, is if you could do a "volume .3" in cs when you die, so the cs sounds get turned down and the music gets turned up, then when you spawn, do a "volume 1" to turn the sound back up. i bet you could do it with those cfg files u use for the announcements somehow... i'm really curious as to how you determine when the player dies/spawns.

edit: i'd also like to see the auto-pause settings being saved, otherwise i'm going to forget about it.

You know you're a nerd when you only listen to orchestral game music(the 8 minute Metroid one or the Smash Brothers Orchestral CD). Not that I do or anything...uh, man is that dice person stupid or what?

I don't play with sound at 1. Only at a lan do I have it that loud.

Guess what...I made this program so people that like to listen to music can have more fun while playing Counter-Strike. I didn't make it for morons to bash just because they can't find anything better to do on a Saturday.

If you don't like listening and fragging at the same time, that's fine. When you bash a program and a group of people needlessly, you're just being a jackass.

And by the way, in response to your question "What kind of nimrod listens to music that they have no problems with pausing frequently?":

You don't have to have HLamp pause the music with this new version. You can have it lower the volume a bit so you can hear the game better when you are alive.

Yeah, I'll add the "volume 0.3" thing to the next version I guess. HLamp is able to execute commands in-game by the way, so that should be no problem.

Having the auto-pause setting saved gets a little annoying when you first load up the game, but I can work around that I suppose. I'll see what I can do...I'll at least make it an option. Thanks :)

Hey, I love listening to music when playing CS. I usually have the music volume at 50% however, just so it's background music. And it's not like you're saying "HEY EVERYONE LISTEN TO THIS" and have your music playing so everyone can hear it. Some of us enjoy music no matter what we're doing. Hell, even when I walk to school I have my discman on.

HLamp is something I've been wanting for a while, and it's perfect for Counter-Strike (and Day of Defeat!).

Oh I never noticed D: I always am dead so it doesn't make a difference for me

Well, on a personal level, I listen to music while playing only when I really don't care about winning/losing/hearing ennemies but just want to PLAY. Of course, during wars I don't listen to music.

I actually like playing little snippets from movies during games. On airstrip I play a Wagner record (!) and the Doors, and I be lovin that napalm smell.

Oh, and the Overture of 1812 is cool too. Love cannons
