i like Steam. it's the neatest thing that i've have seen in gaming programs...

Steam rocks and this is the first problem I have had with it, I know alot of people are having the same error as me. Just gotta be patient, no rush to play at the moment, just bought Splinter Cell -- ooh

No, the indent and quote icon make it obvious that it's a quote. You'll get used to it. The darkening was saying "hey, less important!" Considering our new interview format uses blockquote and people rarely read mailbag submissions, things had to change.



You'll get used to it and it's far more functional. Most sites don't even have separate blockquote colors.

It seems that Steam, making sure all the versions of cs are the same, would be incompatible with custom models, sounds, and even buy scripts. That would mean I couldn't use my uber 1337 Osama bin Ladin terrorist model (very intimidating, too bad other ppl can't see it).

your still screwed if u want custom models & sounds, but buy scripts you can do. I'm not at my computer right now so this my not be the exact directory, but look at this & you can find it on your computer. programfiles/steam/Counter-Strike Cache/cstrike

Once you find 1.6's /cstrike folder you can put in your config.cfg & autoexec.cfg. (note most 1.5 binds dont work for 1.6, you will want to rewrite them using valve's new built in buy commands.)

werd. shield was the best addition, shield/deagle was really fun to try and master. Come on, who could resist being invincible to 5-6 enemies' fire?

yes, except the sheild has never worked for me!!!!, Static, strafing or no, the sheild sometimes fails for no apparenty quantifiable reason.. It is my curse

I got to experience it (mostly) working a couple of days into the Steam beta. We were T's on cs_backalley, and the CT's had been camping and forming a sort of firing squad down the long alley by the "pop dog" sign. Anyway, one CT came in with a RS, I jumped over him and shot him in the head. Dropped my galil, and took the RS into the alleyway.



There were seriously 5-6 guys shooting my shield at the same time, and if was just bouncing around all over the place, but I didn't take a single hit. It was the coolest thing! I started advancing slowly, and two of my teammates came behind me, popping out and kiling someone here and there. Even the AWPer couldn't touch me... it was great. :)
