Pillars101 wrote..So, that doesn't mean you have to play on their level. You can simply change servers, or better yet, if they don't like it they can change servers. I find it fun to always have someone better than I on the server, it gives me a challenge and someone to compete with.
"Good"...
Define good.
This game is communal, it is not a 1 on 1 affair...I have gone 70 and 1 in the past, cleared out the server and got cussed out.
Is that good?
No, it was selfish, the other players sucked, and hated the game because of me.
Be considerate.
Not everyone, in fact very few people (who play comp games), have the character to "stick with it" in the face of such a one sided ass kicking.
Especially given the fact that this is an online comp game...no other purpose for it but to make friends and have fun.
"your score is not a reflection of your worth as a person."
These days you can go 12-1 and have people think you cheat, and as a result start cheating themselves.
If you own the server, then do what you want, with no consideration, but if you are playing on someone elses server, whom pays hard cash for that server, then you might want to be considerate to the clients.

I think the level playing field of CSX will be a good thing. However, initially I was really worried about the lack of being able to type while you die. I mean, really, what are you going to do while you're dead?
But then I realized, all they have to do is implement a simple command menu system which has a couple categories. Pick from Death-Denial, Trash-Talk, or Common Phrases, and then scroll through the listings quickly. Talk->Death-Denial->"OMG wut BS headshots!" will be one of many popular ones, I'm sure. When it all comes down to it, probably only a very small percentage of the CS community will even notice the difference.
Now onto owning and cheating and XBOX and such...
For some reason, I don't think anyone is having a great time if they're 0-20. There's not a lot of reason to just lay waste to masses of enemies. Your teammates don't get action, and your enemies don't get a chance. It's lame, it's selfish, and you're the only person who can be enjoying it, period.
Not to say I've never gone on and owned. Context is very important, however. Sure, I've awped all 10 enemy team members in a round of siege, just to prove a point against using awps, as they were dominating my team with them. Next round I didn't continue, however, because it would have been selfish of me, and would have ruined their games.
The other context I didn't mind racking up an outrageous score in was a small 2-3 game against 3 guys from my college in a clan which happened to rather much dislike me. After being cussed out enough times by a specific group, you don't mind putting them in their place. 35-1 was the result of that game, however, I've never even come close to 70-1 against human opponents..
Oh, I remember the cleverness of "Nighthack" and other such names, ar har har...Comment

That is by far the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You don't join a game with intentions to be fair and polite to the less skilled players. The point is to win, whether it be by planting the bomb, defusing it, killing the VIP, killing the other team, etc... The game is not won by sitting at the spawn chatting with [LOL]^_^AzNChiCk69 about how you're going to let her kill you next round out of pity. That would only ruin the game for the rest of your team, who are most likely trying to win.

If you're killing all of the other players, then so be it. That doesn't mean you are being selfish and rude; it only means you are more skilled than they are. It's just like baseball, basketball, or any other sport for that matter. "Lol Henry, I'm sorry that I can hit the ball 400 yards and you can't, I'll use my arm as a bat for you now so I can be fair!"

That is by far the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You don't join a game with intentions to be fair and polite to the less skilled players.
Not to mention the CONSTANT accusations of cheating.
And many other things that detract from the game.
If you play on a server with the same people all the time, then of course you will play your best, if that is your want.
But how many times have you joined a random server at some off hour of the day, and seen 11 players all with more deaths than kills, and one person with a 10-1 ratio?
Plus the other team is constantly short-handed because no one wants to stay.
What is the point of that?
Why keep using that AWP or assault rifle?
Why tell the other players the only reason they killed you that one time was pure luck or "BS".
How are you bettering your so-called skill?
Why not say "hey, maybe you guys should try walking, I can hear you a mile away?" or some other advice, even if they tell you to "stfu" at least you tried.
If all the other players suck, then what are you proving, and to whom are you proving it to?
etc..
People who like to do that have no reason to complain when someone thinks they need to cheat to enjoy the game...because you know what? They DO need to cheat to have fun.
I guess I am just "old-school", but I am pretty sure the point of the game has nothing to do with k:d ratios.Comment

When I am playing in a server with people on my team who aren't fairing so well, I do give them advice on how to do better. Now it may not be in the most polite way, but I do get my point across. Also, I'm not trying to prove anything when I play Counter-Strike. I am playing the game because it is fun. And to anybody who constantly says "that was bs nub rofl fgt scrub", please stop! Nobody wants to hear your bickering over a death.

As for playing with newbies: It is a game. Games require skill, strategy, intuition, and intelligence to win. When you first pick up a game, you know that there are tons of other players out there who are better than you. Joining a server and getting your ass handed to you is part of learning how to play the game. You have to learn the tricks of the trade, and develop strategies based on what you observe others doing.Comment

What the fuck. The object of the game is to win by planting the bomb, defusing the bomb, killing the VIP, killing the other team, etc...There are no fucking manners in Counter-Strike. Of course you should have manners on forums and comments sections, but not in the game! Stop being such girls.Comment

I think you are right, part of learning any game starts with losing to your betters.
As for playing with newbies: It is a game. Games require skill, strategy, intuition, and intelligence to win.
But at what point do you say "ok, I have beat them to a pulp (thus proving no one on the server is better than me), now let them enjoy themselves"
For me, if I go 12-0, even on a server where they know me and expect me to do good, I will use pistols or the crappy smgs, or rush like an idiot.
I may still win rounds for my team and may still kill multiple people in a round, but at least I did it in style.
This is a community, and all that is needed to form a community is citizens and land, ie. players and servers.
If you drive players away, and make it hard for admins to run a clean game, you are hurting the community.
And by "you" I do not mean you "moda" exclusively.
We don't need websites, we don't need forums, leagues, media attention or people telling us we suck because we can't get a 2:1 ratio. For many people this game has been turned into a money making oppurtunity.
Many years ago I was sitting in a coffee shop, guy walks up to me,
"Want to play chess"
"No, I haven't played in years, I suck"
"That's ok, It's just for fun"
"Ok, let's play."
He uses some textbook strat from some dead russian, and checkmates me in like 6 moves.
He laughs in my face and smiling says, "let's play again."
"No thanks"
His face drops, "No really, lets play again"
"No really...if you don't get your scrawny white ass away from my table I will beat you bloody in front of all these people."
Now, who do you think is weak or a "girl" in this scenario, the newb, or the experienced player that crushed the newb for no other reason than to boost an apparently flagging ego?
It sure didn't make me want to play chess with him anymore.Comment
-
You think this is about an ego boost? As I said before, it is about having fun. If you purposely ease up on the less skilled players, then the game is less fun for you. When I first got the game, I got my ass whooped, as did everybody else who plays for the first time. It takes many months of getting your ass beat to finally start doing some beating of your own; then the cycle starts all over again. If somebody you are playing against truly likes this game and wants to commit time into getting good at it, then he will not expect the other players to take it easy on him.
As for that chess shit: Shut up, woman.Comment

If it's not about ego then why would you give a rats turds about who is "winning"? or whom is kicking whoms ass? Or what your score is? Why would you get a good feeling (fun) out of wasting less experienced players?
Also I would like to point out that calling someone a Girl, woman etc, leads one to ask, what is so degrading about being a female? or minority? or new player? What makes that an insult, as you apparently meant it to be?
I don't like to put down people over the internet, but what happend to you to make you think that being male or good at CS makes you better than a female or someone not good at CS?
Are the females in your family that despicable?Comment
