Mouth you're right, but the point of it was purely selfish. A freind of mine let me have a server because I did some stuff for him a while ago and he's a good pal. I'm given full access to it, and use it to play cs with my freinds in a controlled environment.
We're strict with the rules when admins are present, we usually play as a group and have a few base rules. Yes we are nazi admins, but to be fair it's my party and i'll cry if I want to. I'm not forcing anyone to play there, so if you don't like the rules there are 20,000 other servers for you to choose from.oReiLLZ wrote..

Actually, the times i've played there, i never saw any bullshit RCON use outside of using the ssay and the like for chat. The comparison had more to do with the fact that every time i've played there i've still had problems with simple things like getting my team to NOT all go 1 way while leaving the other wide open, even with 1 or more admins present. Or with 1 or more admins ON MY TEAM, for that matter.Comment

I dont have the ASE. Isn't it paying? If it is Im too damn poor to buy it.
Clownhut isn't terribly different from any other pub, even when admins are present.
Not that anyone here would ever get the idea to just search ASE for a server with CLOWNHUT in the damned name.Comment

I suck at inferno and so when I'm the only one going to a bombsite as a CT I get screwed royally. Dust2 I can at least get one because you can get in a spot where you have an advantage as long as you have a rifle(then again, every situation calls for a rifle). Just type in all caps constantly and eventually you'll get 3 or so to come with you.

What is/was your favorite as_ map? Be sure to vote, because it matters.
Last week's poll (on the right) is interesting. Since you fellas are mostly PC-oriented it's not too shocking that UT2003 and BF1942 were voted up there. CS isn't a new nor an upcoming game, so people who voted for it are mentally retarded. You are also driving the world into recession by not buying new games. You selfish bastards.

We posted some redux Counter-Crap from champu and .. others. In related news, you can upload your own Counter-Crap right here. There won't be another issue of Counter-Crap until we have enough submissions to merit one. In other related news (kind of), we need more/better POTD submissions. - new aff online flash strategy
- valve tests wallhack block - wallhack block tech preview
The scripting system, for posting content, news, and doing numerous other things automagically, has been completed. Right now, the major thing is to develop a front-end so I don't have to add the entires to the database manually. Look forward to articles posted in a more timely manner for those on the east coast.
I also fixed a bug where the comments info page wouldn't load due to session data in the URI.

I've done a lot of coding this week, fixing various bugs and updating some older components of the site (again). Here are the interesting updates:- update: you can now upload your own counter-craps.
- the "recent content" (main page) and "recent update" (right sidebar) items have been merged into one table. non-articles.php updates can now be featured on the main page.
- the server's time offset has been corrected. all times are now accurate. that is, of course, if you have the correct timezone selected.
- the standard table width has been reduced from 640 to 630. 640 was too big. i added a curve in the upper left hand corner. right sidebar images now use the font that we use every where else. the site was made more compatible with the mozilla renderer (gecko): it looks almost identical to ie.
- added a mozilla/netscape 6 or 7 tab.
- all amazon.com links are automatically changed to support cs-nation. yay!

pollWhich upcoming CS game are you looking more forward to? Counter-Strike 2 58%
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero 42%
total votes: 4169
We have a new poll this week: What's your favorite non-lethal grenade? This should be trivial!
Our last poll had very interesting results. Counter-Strike: Condition Zero has been hyped for months now, but Counter-Strike 2 has had no hype and still pulls away with a victory. CS2 will probably have a bigger impact on the CS community, since we're all multiplayer fans, but I still find it remarkable that so many of us are looking forward to the future when it's all the unknown.

- counter-life beta 4.3 released
- prodigy retired from cpl play
Today I'll be fixing the category preferences, which are all bugged out apparently, and some other minor bugs.
This week I stabilized the site (it's not 100%, but better than before) through a lot of caching and some updates to our advertising scripts. This is not fun stuff and you do not care about it.
If you noticed that the site was down this morning it's because I was testing a system of not connecting the database when the site knows that it's down. This means that the slow loading main page is gone. It also means that when the site goes down, it should be up faster.
Also, when the db goes down only one person will see the main page with broken images and empty tables. This makes the site look a bit more professional while we're not even operating! Yay!
A good part about the caching stuff is that even when the database is down, most of the site will operate correctly. articles.php and view.php pages (basically all the content on the site) operate fine with the exception of ads and comment counts, but who cares about those? This means that the database down will only affect news.
Over-all, the site crashing hard like it did last Wednesday taught me a lot of about managing database connections. The site no longer requires a database for every single little thing. It no longer connects to the database if it doesn't need to. These are good things that will make the site fast when we move to our new server. Right now, they're required to keep the site up and running, but the benefits will be here forever! Nerd alert.

Saturday Ketchup
From here-in, by decree of the lords of CS-Nation, every Saturday we'll bring you Saturday Ketchup. A new poll and a recap of what "went down" with us in terms of content.
This week's poll is up: What's your favorite gaming console? Please don't take this too seriously (read: no one cares if you like or dislike Japan), it's just a not-so-subtle attempt at us trying to post the correct ads for our demographic (votes, of course, aren't tied with a specific account or anything).
On Wednesday we updated the official CS-Nation CS store. New items and much lower prices. I think the cap sale ends soon, so get a move on it! Later on the same Wednesday, we posted Mr Bond's excellent cs_assault strategy. If you're new to the map, or just plain suck at it, be sure to read his guide. On Thursday the CS Buddylist feature was updated. You can now join a game with a few mouse clicks and be connected with your CS buddies faster than ever. Just yesterday we posted Exo's preview to the CPL Summer Event. If you're not in the know, be sure to check it out as the CPL start in just seven days (that's a week for you educated folks).
Happy fun update: All Skins of the Day before puffycloud's (the current reviewer) time have been deleted. Many of these skins don't work with CS 1.5 and there's no notice to inform users on how to fix this issue, so I'm tired of the e-mails. In addition, the older reviewers used very short reviews and had a very limited rating system (10, 10, 8, 10, 9); these two factors make the new method of displaying reviews look like crap. I apologize for the inconvenience. The good part, however, is that Nationalist ratings are now factored into the order of the SOTD archives.
Weekly Widsom: They're always at bombsite A.Comment

Saturday Ketchup
Welcome to another edition of Saturday Ketchup. The Summer CPL Event starts up today and quite an event it shall be. In December we knew who would end up in the finals: X3 and NiP. This time, no one has a clue. Most bets are on a pool of four: 3D, ND (now known as eSu.swe), SK.sca, and mTw.aTn. Only one American team. Hrm. Maybe TSO will shock us all: they have some stronger players this year. What gaming console do you own (if you own more than one, which is your favorite)? PlayStation 2 38%
N/A or none 33%
Xbox 17%
GameCube 12%
total votes: 3474
poll
This week's poll is timely: which clan will win the CPL Summer event? I'll try and close the poll just before the final match and give you the CSN favorites. Last week's poll is on the right. I guess we'll send a few more PS2 ads your way. :)[break="so what happened this week?"]this week in content
If you didn't check out last week's mailbag about AdminMod/my mental problems be sure to read it; no mailbag tomorrow due to CPL coverage. We've updated our CS: CZ information section with more Counter-Strike: Condition Zero info and screenshots than you can shake a human corpse at. Everything is all up-to-date, so get it while it's fresh. Narby has reviewed the Counter-Map Pack 2. Besides reviewing the pack itself, narby reviewed each and every map.
in the news
HLGuard 1.05 has been released. Valve's anti-cheat was updated twice, disabling recent OGC hacks. Counter-Strike: Condition Zero might be delayed again, but probably not. mTw.aTn|pre was interviewed over at Domain of Games. DJ B.a.r released a very cool CS instrumental.

On all the comment pages, "related stories" were added. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to find some info around the site. Also on comment pages, a little box was added to right of the comment number. Click the box to "mark" the comment. Scroll down to the bottom of the page: above the comment box you'll see a marked comments dropdown box. You can select quote (moderators can delete or unreport comments from here) and it'll automatically "quote" all of the selected comments.
