New VAC

Some guy came on my server the other day and said "ooo cheater's paradise". He turned on and his hacks and was promptly removed by vac. It was great.

I just manually banned a cheater from my server, so it's not detecting everything, but good work Valve, keep the VAC updates coming.

VAC should release a list of cheats it caught, but that would seem counter productive because you're giving a heads up. But instead, they should name all of them, and get all the cheaters in a panic.

VAC needs I nice list on the web of all recent bust (Past 3 months).



One that allows you type in "wonid #####" into a search engine like google and get results back. I dunno how many cheaters I've suspect did this with and either come back with nothing or a recent ban from another server.

oh happy day! The cheaters site i have used (fro reconnaisance purposes only) previously has NO currently active cheats on it, whether thats cos the cheats have upped n swithced sites i dont know, but that kind of info is LOVELY to hear.



However, i believe there is a sordid underbelly to this that we dont recognise as we are all sane people. Did YOU all know thees a cheater community like our normal community? They have programme developers n stuff? It is faced with this and other such scum that really gets ya down you know?

But hey we should be cheat free for a bit!

Apparently, it only mneans that they are not vac proof in current form, they may well be vac proof if poeple who regularly cheat do whatever it is they do to them



Valve should set up their own cheat site and everyone wqho is caught should face legal action, or alternatively, ip tracing ete c, adn their won ids removed.... After all WON is their own property/system isnt it? People circumventng won should be brought before the courts, prosecuted and fined that would stop cheats. If they enter public servers or any that use won, p0w, sod the ban go for breach of terms of useage, civil penalties, get a few high profile cases, cheating will dissapear. Then it owuldnt matter so much about detection cos those who re caught would be punished. so hard, that others ouwldnt even try...

WEll thats just my idea anyways.

We coudl always chop off their right hand, woudlnt be hackin a cs gme again any time soon anyways. :P

As a server admin, I agree, but I think the reason they don't release a list of all detected cheats because it's a big advertisement of what cheats AREN'T detected. A cheater who has several possible cheat programs to choose from would select one that isn't detected.



Not publishing a list might make some potential cheaters nervous to use ANY cheat, for fear that it MIGHT be one of the ones detected.



What I would like to see in the logs is what cheat was detected.

I take this the update is for 1.5 and not 1.6 because I just restarted our HLDS and still unsecure when is valve going to turn it back on for 1.6 and steam?

good that they at least r optimising for speed again.

back in the days of cs 1.0, i would run cs at 1280x960, nowadays ive dropped to 1024x768, since every update , things just get slower and slower...fps, loading times, general responsiveness of the game seems more sluggish.

But most cheaters do not use private hacks, they use public hacks. Hacks you find on these readily available cheat sites. Just recently a popular cheating site has 95% of it's hacks caught, and now it's all red (red = caught, green = still works). It's really funny. ANd I agree with that massive wonid database. Not only should it list the wonid, but also the ip and IF possible, the xp/os SN.
