Maybe I just have a problem with the term sport being used with video games, regardless of the definition. I don't consider NASCAR, golf, bowling, billiards, etc. a sport either. To me, a sport is a game requiring athletic ability as well as skill. Therefore, an eSport should be an electronic representation of those events. Competition is a fair term I believe, but not eSport.



Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these guys that win tournaments aren't complete beasts at what they do, but I don't think the term cyber-athlete is an appropriate term. I mean, if you told a regular person who doesn't play videogames (i.e. most of the adult world) they would probably look at you like you are some kind of fruit.

You are missing my point. You use "esport" and "sport" interchangeably like its the same thing.



Consider this: Say we all agree that CS isn't a "sport," which is something you obviously firmly believe in. A "sport" in our minds then would be defined as things like football, basketball, baseball, etc. The solution then would be to call competitive gaming something else: eSports.



My point is that I think you are trying to say Counter-strike is not a sport. On several occassions you have said that it is not an esport. If the person who thought up the word "esports" firmly believed that playing computer games and traditional sports were the exact same thing, the word wouldn't exist. You cannot say Counter-strike (or any other competitive computer game for that matter) is not an esport because the very definition was based on it.

Im not saying that it is or isn't a sport, but what really defines a sport? I mean us geeks(dont flame, im joking) need some competition too, and chess(Check csnation archives on chess haha) gets a bit boring some times doesnt it? haha

Have you ever seen a professional bowler? Their bowling arm is about twice as large as their non bowling arm. You're an idiot, and no one wants your dirty money.

BTW I think that CS counts as both a sport and an esport.
