WHO CARES if Midway said that.

I think the fact that someone so closely involved in the scene is motivated enough about the future of CS to even imagine the possibility is a good sign for competitve gaming.

Unfettered optimism, a visionary idea? That's extremely rare stuff in the CS community and I'll take it anywhere I can get it. Keep dreaming, Mid.

Midway didn't say that he wants CS in the Olympics, you see that was me not being serious.

No he said something about de_comrade and then I made a joke acting like he was fanatical about CS becoming an olympic sport.

I quickly threw together a really really crappy overview file (linked here) for myself (so that I don't see the green grid when I'm dead or spectating).

I'm sure I could make a better looking one if I tried, but I'll wait for someone else to go through the effort when the map is final.

                  THE POST wrote..

Update by rizzuh: gotFrag has posted an overview of the map. The author, spiffman, basically asks us not to judge the map until it gets played next week.

thats not the same kind of overview pinchet, the overview lugosi is talkin bout is the one u see while spectating, the overview gotfrag is talkin about is like a review of the layout

Yeah pinchet looks like an idiot because he is one, but that same article has that type of overview as well.

Wow, there was a real overview there. And I spent a whole five minutes making my crappy one. Their's kicks mine's butt.

I thought they just had a layout picture and were calling it an overview.

What's this? A map that requires actual teamwork? What? There's more than two route to take through the map?? Well that has to make a mistake, lets insult the guy that made it and call the map crap! THAT'S A GOOD IDEA!

Warning: A logical, well-written essay on de_comrade follows.

Let's throw away the fact that this is not the final version of de_comrade, and let us also throw away the fact that narby will probably make modifications and take a look at the map instead of insulting it. Play it through a few times. Walk around the map and actually learn it. I've had the good fortune of pugging it with friends and, in my humble opinion, this map is THE model for tactical, team-oriented game play. To the untrained eye, it might seem like there is an advantage to one side or the other, however nothing could be farther from the truth. Terrorists have many options of getting to either of the bomb sites. And Counter-Terrorists have many choke points that are essential to control. If the CT's fail to control these choke points, (Mainly the one right by the CT spawn, and the middle maze-like part leading to the second bomb site) then the T's can plant and successfully guard the bomb, especially in the second bomb site. The map is elegantly balanced, although it takes a keen eye to realize it. There are many, many tactical plans that can be executed by both sides, which why this is such a good map.

If there was one thing I disliked about this map it would have to be the abundant amount of blind corners that the enemy can hide in. However, just like all new maps, I'll eventually get used to looking in those corners as a force of habit.

Comrade may be daunting at first, but once you get used to it, you can focus on the tactical side of the map, and this is what makes the map great.

                            wrong again csn.
The games I played on it were fun. I never claimed it would replace de_dust2 as the CPL finals map.

LOL I really thought that was his special text on the left. Now I see the light

I've been playing comrade in dev mode mostly.. and that place they said which would be "a good T eco round".. yea thats garbage. 3 nades would own the lot of them, plus you can see their feet just by crouching and going up a little, way before they can see your guns. Its stupid easy to self boost up there, and if you get at a right angle, and the opposition is running somewhere and not noticing anything, then it would probably make a good spot, but after everyone gets used to it, it'll be just like dust2's tunnels.

The map has a nice layout, I'll agree, just wish so many places for great eco rounds/saving gun places weren't blocked off (CT spawn areas). I was wondering if that room with the large leaning box had any purpose, is it just there? If there wasnt an invisible ceiling blocking off the good camp spots it'd make a nice saveround room, although I'm not sure how accessible it is for the Terrorists because I haven't looked at overhead yet.

Got lost a few times and found myself saying 'wait a second wasn't I just here?' about 20 times, hopefully I can memorize it by today before scrims :o
