    Arcade CS

Gamers.com is reporting today that Namco has licensed an arcade version of CS called Counter-Strike Neo for play in its new Ledzone entertainment centers:
CS Neo is substantially similar to the latest version of the game for American PC gamers, but it incorporates a more simplified interface and a detailed tutorial mode to acclimate inexperienced players to the game. Namco's setup is built around two-on-two games, but its facilities are able to accomodate larger games, and the company hopes to host competitive events sanctioned by the Cyberathlete Professional League in the future.
It sounds like Counter-Strike Neo might only be available in Japan. A test version is supposed to be coming out later this month in Tokyo at the first (and so far the only) Ledzone center. Hopefully we'll see some screenshots soon.

This is the part of the post where I usually tell you to go read the original article more information. Also... it's time to thank FAF, who submitted this little surprise to us.

i agree in regards to campers it would prolly not be much fun 2v2 for total noobs because they will prolly be stuck back at spawn while 1 guy goes, thus dying and nobody having fun. forget bombing or hosties in this, i bet its all shooter which might be fun, but its not CS as we know it (im not talking about iceworld servers btw)

the support for many people might be cool, then again cant you just go to a decent cyber-cafe and play there with people who dont totally suck?

                      the images dont work =/

it would be sweet as hell if they made it a DDR pad with a light-gun... think about it, stand in center, put foot forward to move forward, to the sides to strafe, and if you jump you jump. have all the main buttons on the board and the really essential ones on the gun... it would be fucking sweet. shit, make 2 light guns per machine, 1 pistol and 1 like mp5-style gun. damn, this idea is getting better and better. move the gun around and you look around... wow, i'm gonna drop 20 grand to make a machine like this for myself

Maybe they will have like a link-system so the people can play against each other in deathmatch-mode. One thing that will suck, though, is trying to play without a mouse, your movements would be really jerky with those joysticks.

Should be interesting. Namco's been responsible for some of the best high end coin-op stuff I've ever seen.
