Top Ten Reasons Pro Gaming Sucks

Gamespy's Kevin Bowen has put up April's Top Ten, focusing on pro gaming. It's called Top Ten Reasons Pro Gaming Sucks, and has some valid points. Check this out:

Who watches these professional video game matches, outside of the organizers, the players in the actual tournament, and a very small handful of extremely dedicated players? The answer is pretty much nobody. Why? Because no amount of fancy video editing will change the fact that you're watching two (or more) people do something you could very easily be doing on your own. Why watch other people play a game when you can just do the exact same thing yourself?

MTV's True Life: I'm a Gamer is proof that watching people play video games for money isn't always terribly interesting for those not actually playing the game. While the Fatal1ty part was decent, I actually felt somewhat soiled after watching the bits on the Golden Tee guy and the PacMan freak. Read the rest of Kevin's Top Ten here. People can't be as good as other people, it makes no sense, I know that from experience I have played counterstrike for ages and I still am not that great, also maybe he doesn't want to watch cs games but i sure as hell do!

I agree. I do think gaming makes a shitty spectator sport, who cares? It's meant for the people playing it it, that IS why they are the ones winning the cash prizes belive it or not.

Hmmmm... Nobody wants to watch? CPL gave opened 2000 free passes (which means you can't bring a computer or compete) and they were gone in one week. CompUSA is giving out an additional 10,000. The numbers on how much they have given thus far have not bee given out.



I think its safe to say that people want to watch. Its already proven.
