Imagine Half-Life 2 using the Unreal engine! ...or even a better one *drools*

    3) CS v1.6 was released via Steam what, six months ago? And it croaked in what, a day? Have we seen or heard ANYTHING AT ALL about it from those cretins at Valve?
    Well [ZED]YourMama...

Guess what you piece of shiatz, hundreds of kiddies are play CS 1.6 already, oh yes maybe it's only a BETA, but no shit that leaves a hint that the full version is going to be released. I heard a rumor that CS 1.6 full is going to be released with CZ on the same day or something. Speaking of CZ, the release date will be May 2003. I hope they don't delay it again. Oh and VAVLe ain't heavy...he's my brother, man. (in other words they're not gone, yet)

    CZ, HL2, TF2, then CS2 I think.

        HOly shit..

I thought I'd crap myself when I read CS2 will use the HL2 engine!! Sweeeeeet! If the HL2 engine is as brilliant as the HL engine but highly improved of course... then what will we have? The PERFECT FPS engine!

        Whooohooooo!!! MAY?? Damn.. NICE! Sweeeeeeeet!!

MikeJ simply rephrased the comment to show how absolutely stupid it was.

It's a no-brainer that game companies would want to make money, and that's why they code and support games in the first place. So, stupidity of expecting more free stuff from VALVe (after they've already given a ton of updates and support for Half-Life for free) is pretty easy to see, and that's what MikeJ pointed out.

As far as CS:CZ and other upcoming games, yeah, they'll come out. CS1.6b isn't done yet though (assuming they're still planning on fixing the shield bugs), and supposedly CS1.7 will be the final version that goes with CS:CZ. As such, I wouldn't expect CS:CZ until perhaps summer, assuming all that info is correct.

Really, though, with the current popularity of HL and its many mods, people are still buying VALVe's software. So long as they're getting a good income off of that, why would they (economically speaking) want to rock the boat? When people start showing true signs of leaving HL mods, then I imagine the next products will be there to fill the void.

It's not fair, though. The main reason that CS is so popular is that the mod is free. CS 2 will suck unless g00se and cliffe do it...

HL2 will so r00l. Hopefully Gooseman will develop CS2 based on the same engine. Now that would be awesome!

Sod all the rumors. HL2 will definitely show up sometime, it's too big not to.

                  But.

The information blackout is probably a good thing, Valve have been very quiet since HL, so they've obviously been busy. We hope.

But what the hell is the plot going to be? The strength of HL1, other than the set pieces, was the plot. If HL2 cant match it, it'll be rough, and probably cripple Valve. However I'm going out on a limb and saying it'll be good.

                  Bring Back Shepherd!

Rather than plot, I'd say the atmosphere was the strength in HL. The plot was rather standard, just a rehash of Doom/Quake/etc... lab screws up, monsters appear, kills/infests everybody, all hell breaks loose.

However, what captivated me was it's presentation, the believable setting, the atmosphere... man, it was amazing.

I hope Valve can do a good job and top that.
