speaking of delays ... did ANYONE hear about gtaIII coming out? odds are it coulda been delayed for years but you cant miss what you never knew existed in the first place.........

if we diddnt know that cz was coming we woulda been happy with 1.5 (1.6 is STILL buggy as hell, actually its steam that sux but whatever) and one day there would be a post on csn saying "CS:CZ RELEASED GET IT HERE!!!" and we would be happy, but this is reality and it sucks

Good thing we didn't hear about GTA3 cause if we had RockStar would have gotten railed even harder for not making it multiplayer! Other then that aspect I htink everyone can agree it's one of the best games to come out in the past few years.

lets again reference gta3 aside from the fact that it had a perfect release, nobody anticipaded it coming and nobody had any expectations for it whatsoever the turn their ps2 on and WHOAH and they are left speechless for several hours, cause how the hell could a game this good have not been delayed, also if anyone at all knows about a sequel to a game the developer will be swamped with "helpful suggestions" that they are forced to read, press releases that they are forced to make ... all of which take time

as i sed before steam still sucks im goin back to 1.5

It seems like Valve chose "Performance" and "Features." I'm plenty happy with that. Everyone else should be, too.

I think there are many factors that make PC game development much slower / more difficult than console game dev. Firstly, it's got to be the hardware. If every gaming company would just decide at the outset, we are going to design for such and such generation of cards, this amount of ram and a certain hdd space limit, then that's a good, concrete target you can aim at. The problems start when things kind of go up in the air and you don't have that goal object staring back at you. I'm a graphic designer and I find the process is similar. If the client doesn't CLEARLY explain to you at the initial briefing who the target audience is and what he expects to achieve with a certain project it becomes nearly impossible for you as a designer to meet a goal that seems to move depending on who happens to look at your boards when you take them in, believe me, bad game design is probably as frustrating to the developpers as it is to us.

The reason that hardware configurations should be set in stone (at least at the start of the project) is to ensure:

                1. The game development goes smoothly because you only have to test on that hardware reference platform.

                2. To ENSURE that no matter what the game LOOKS like, you have good gameplay (because if you don't have that, you may as well stop now). Too many games lately are all flash and no substance, to the point where I see nice screenshots of something and I immediately become suspicious (I have a good reason)...

Case in point: A game that _looks_ wonderful, but is actually hurt because of it: Vietnam -- line of sight from infogrammes. Great LOOKING game, but it's the most frustrating thing you will ever play (at least if you play with all the detail turned on). Let me explain: When you turn the detail objects to max, the ganme looks amazing, little view-obscuring bushes appear and they look quite good! Unfortunately, while they often obstruct your view so handily you'd need a seeing-eye dog to lead you through the jungle, enemy soldiers seemingly don't suffer the same disadvantage. They plink away at me through bushes so thick you'd think I'm carl weathers in predator (and you KNOW brothers never live thought the fkn movie). The fire seems to come from nowhere and pretty soon I'm dead. I never saw my attackers (I can hear them speaking and trampling around, but they must have their invisibility systems on).

                Anyway, I digress...

Point is, sometimes you can have have too much of a good thing.

I think the industry as a whole needs to lay off the graphics train and start thinking about the gameplay again.

I recently played No one lives forever ONE and It's honestly one of the best games I ever played. Right up there with halflife. I also played the thing, which I honestly was hoping was as good as half-life and I was sorely disappointed (I'm a HUGE fan of the movie), even though the graphics were top-notch. Teaches me for playing a console port.

I think CS:CZ has stiff competition starting out if a tactical shooter is what they're aiming for. Ghost recon owns just about anything in that department. If they go for an arcade shooter...well, I honestly think CS with bots is not a good gameplay idea, CS is not UT. The dynamics of that kind of game would be very different (and not necessarily different for the better).

Anyway, back to my homework =(

I'll write the rest of my sad rant later...

                Cheers,

                Freddy

The skinning is great, the models are great, and im not too sure about how the Russian mafia dresses but it seems legit to me. Good pack in my opinion.

very well done.... it is going to be in my models folder for a while. at least you can tell they are the bad guys. i like the necklaces they are wearing, and it shows what casual killers they are supposed to be. thier feet look a little off though... small? anyways i give it a 9.1, and i round it up because thats what the government does on sales taxes.
