I wish EA would pick up some of the qualities that Blizzard has...

If anything, the amount of delays are directly proportional to how good the game must be to sway the pissed off fans.

That means CS CZ will have to be...

            *does math*

Damn I can't count that high

And as stated in the article, Duke Nukem forever will have to be the best damn game I will have ever played. Heh, I have a PC Gamer magazine next to me with Duke Nukem Forever on the cover. December 1999. :x

                  CPoint rules!

HL2 had better come out on time, or VALVe is going to have a LOT of angry fans on their hands...

Great article, but you need to watch some things, like that comparison between Consols and PCs, as most consol games are made on the other side of the world (Japan). PC games are made here in North America (at least the ones that come out here). Culture is a big influence, and even if you're talking mostly about the translators on this end. Sorry, but feel strongly about this kinda stuff.

Oh, and CSCZ, you ruined two months of my life, so you can just die if you end up sucking. Same thing with every other game that got too much hype during their productions!

I think asspennies is right in the sense that, the more a game gets delayed, the more outdated its concept gets. Like, if a game like half life keeps getting delayed, maybe by the time it comes out, it will look crummy and there will be better things out to play, so the major appeal will just come from old schoolers. So the game will have to change the whole engine. That will delay it even futher. That's why games like CZ are stuck in a repetitive cycle until they come out. When they come out, rizzuh is right. They had better be good.

I'd say that's really, really wrong. Think about some of the best games in recent days on the console - Halo, GTA 3, GTA:VC, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Metroid, Splinter Cell - none of these were made in Japan, and most were made right here in the USA.

Dont be so pessimistic, maybe for once they'll meet a deadline! I swear me typing caused some mad de ja vu.. Try making a program that you're going to release, I wouldnt be suprised if making a game is the same exact way, I remember when I was designing a game-hosting program to work in chatrooms.. of course I didnt give release dates but I did go back and rework a lot of the code, making it more efficient and cutting bits that was unneccessarily complicated out..

in the end I was really impressed and glad that (yea i made same mistake valve did) I spent the extra week after the release date i had made to go over it.. my friends who used it were pretty happy with it too, was quite schnazzy knowing that extra week made it all the more awesome

And, don't Microsoft and Sony both produce their consoles in The USA? I think Nintendo's the only one in Japan. Unless I'm wrong. Which I am never. If that's incorrect, I'm just stoned. If it's right, I'm right.

You're right Freelancer did suck. I mean it just ended, i go in there to the "suicide" mission, destroy that thingermajig, and all those little Clear Buggers get sucked into a cosmic bright thing, and bam, i win, uuuuh, ok what now, i just saved this sector of the galaxy, shouldn't i be something like your god? Ok im babbling on i'll shutup now. In conclusion, delays can go either way.
