I'm thinking whoever gets their hands on one of those throwing stars should probably invest in a good pair of leather gloves...

But that's okay, they're just going to use these items to go kill people. Because, afterall, we all know most people use ninja fucking stars to kill people, not something impractical that nobody has a damn clue how to use, like, say a handgun.

Any random teenager can buy a knife for a few bucks if they want, or freaking grab one out of the kitchen, and out of the three that's the only even semi-practical weapon.

But don't worry guys, we're not stopping there. Next month look for the Desert Eagle giveaway contest! After that, we'll have our super assault rifle contest, followed by the biggest event yet, corresponding to CS:CZ's release... a massive CS Nationalist-only giveaway of 15 weapons of mass destruction! This is, of course, meant to encourage more people to sign up for CS-Nationalist status.

Why do I get the terrible feeling that some middle-eastern CS player with very poor english skills is going to read that and immediately try to upgrade to being a Nationalist immediately...? :)

I want to know why that poor Renegade007 guy keeps getting banned for speaking his mind in an unoffensive and calm manner.

Perhaps rZe just cannot accept criticism and would rather ban someone rather than be forced to accept that he isn't always right.

I would also like to commend willa - good job, you are right on the money. What a shame we must be abused for our opinions.

Guess Rizzuh is off somewhere yelling at a war protester...what a nice chap.

If you don't like the contest, don't fucking enter it. People over the age of 18 have responsibilities much greater than carrying around an $8 knife that is probably less sharp then a steak knife in your kitchen. He's not arming children. Maybe you have the uncontrollable urge to go and stab people if a free knife came in your mail, but most people can handle themselves.

You couldn't even name one valid reason why this contest is a bad idea.

                  Because:

                  1) Weapons are lethal instruments designed solely to maim and kill. They are not toys and should not be distributed with such blithe, reckless abandon.

                  2) It sets a bad example to the younger readers of the site that weapons are items that are cool and should be sought after for amusement.

                  3) Given the current political climate concerning video games being linked to actual violence it is very unwise to further this association by linking CS Nation to a website that distributes real instruments of violence.

A weapon in a game is simply a representation that cannot hurt anybody. Weapons in real life can (and are) used to kill and injure. I really can't believe I'm having to point this out...

This is a CONTEST not some scam where if you when the knives you still have to pay for it, so pay attention!
Oh so it hasn't occured to you that Rizzuh is putting up the URL of this website that sells these knives and stuff just cos he's a "nice guy". Come on, it's a form of advertising for goodness sake: OK OK, maybe Rizzuh struck up the competition with them just for an extra feature, maybe all he's getting out of it are the prizes for free! I don't think so, even Rizzuh wouldn't be stupid enough to affiliate himself like that without getting something out of it! He's obviously getting a little cash that he can spend on the site. OK that's all well and good, and I can see that things are getting a little insane with the adverts everywhere, but I still feel that this affiliation is morally wrong.

And rizzuh, since when did I ever say I was not gonna visit the website before this you turnip. And even if I did, looks like I just can't get enough of bitching about you - tehehe.

oh and don't slag off the British! This month we've had a Gun's amnesty, and we've had thousands of guns handed in, showing how honest people are over here. I feel you Americans are messed up with your "Right to own a gun", for Self protection. Don't ever put down the Brits!

Go by a book of Bushims!

OK OK I shouldn't be so harsh, not everybody is gonna use these things to injure people. But my point is still that all of us here have an increased violence level, and that supplying these things for free without checking the sanity of the people enterring the competition is just plain dumb.

P.S. Thanks for the lovely subnote to my name, you power crazy mong :P

                      In Response to above:

                      1. I'm sure that every single person reading this website has a knife somewhere in their house. Should they be any more inclined to hurt someone with that one than a free one? Why should getting another knife incline people to break into a murderous rage..

                      2. This is a good point. However, so does the game counterstrike. Should we ban that too?

                      3. CS Nation is a website, a portal to freedom of speech. While your opinion may differ from the owner's, it is his right to do what he wishes, and if you disagree, it is your right not to come back.

                      And finally:

First i would like to point out that -most- people can draw the line between playing games with weapons, or owning weapons, and actually going out and causing harm with them.

For those who can't, well, lucky for them..for this is JUST the opportunity to get the ninja star that they needed to become a serial killer. After all, its soo much easier to first after MAYBE winning, and then verifying themselves, to get a weapon than it is to buy one indiscreetly for a few bucks, or to take one that's already sitting in their home.

Yet this is a fan site for a game that rewards maining and killing with guns with a higher score, and this game can be downloaded for free from almost anywhere.
                        2) It sets a bad example to the younger readers of the site that weapons are items that are cool and should be sought after for amusement.
I thought it was the parent's job to teach their children responibility and awareness of harmful and dangerous devices? Last I checked this contest was for 18 year olds, and counter-strike itself is a game that has a rating of Mature for 17+. Try again.
                        3) Given the current political climate concerning video games being linked to actual violence it is very unwise to further this association by linking CS Nation to a website that distributes real instruments of violence.
There has been no conclusive evidence that violence in the media leads to violence in real life. In young children it can be linked to more aggressive behavior, but again it is the parent's job to monitor what their child is exposed too. And again, this is a website for a game that is rated Mature.
A weapon in a game is simply a representation that cannot hurt anybody. Weapons in real life can (and are) used to kill and injure. I really can't believe I'm having to point this out...
You don't fucking say? Ok so on one hand violent games lead to violence in real life, but on the other hand they are just a representation that cannot hurt anybody, and are essentially harmless? Nice contradictions you got going their paco.

Oh you mean weapons in real life can be used to kill and injure? You better alert the press on this because last I checked any 18 year old could just walk in to the grocery store and buy a knife, most likely to go kill people with it.

No - this is exactly where the misunderstanding lies.

I am not saying that owning a lethal weapon CAUSES someone to be violent. I am saying that their free and easy distribution sends out the message that these items are okay and acceptable in society. They should not be.

Of course every house has a rack of knifes in the kitchen but these are tools for a domestic purpose. Yes they could be used to kill but more often they are used to chop up carrots.

On the other hand a military-style combat knife or a throwing star only have one purpose - to inflict damage on another human being.

We should be doing everything we can to curtail their availability to civilians. Heck, we should be doing everything we can to reduce the number of weapons being produced, period.

What we do not want to do is make weapons out to be harmless collectors items or playthings. I wonder how people would react to a gun being given away free in a competition on CS Nation? The premise is exactly the same.

I didn't say that violent games DID lead to real life violence. I said that this is an issue being debated by politicians right now and that this competition is therefore unwise for a counter strike website to hold.

Firstly my new aim is to get

<--- this thing removed off me :P I shall succeed, lets see Rizzuh resist!

Well it seems we're very split over this.

I've tried to say that always that Everyone IS entitled to their own opinion - I'm not saying to Rizzuh that by doing this he should be put to death, I'm saying that i think he is acting out of order.

Oh and Rizzuh does have the right to do what he wants as the owner of this website, but regardless of who you are, you shouldn't use your position to oppress others, which is what I think rizzuh does.

Finally in response to the argument that everybody has a knife in their house!

The knives most people have (Well I don't know about you wacky "My right" Americans) are designed for cutting bread and carving chicken, not for injuring people. Tell me honestly that you think a throwing star's primary use is to shave in the morning and I'll forgive you!

No these items are "Weapons", they are designed to injure. If you're giving away bread knives in the competition, I wouldn't agree still, but because everyone has these, then I'd have to accept this. The fact is this site is giving away items designed to injure, and I don't agree with that.

Hey, I accept one little me isn't gonna change anything, and super-power Rizzuh isn't gonna change who he is. But it's nice to see that he remembers who I am, and labelled me as what appears to be an enemy. And hey, he can slag me off all I want, cos I know how to stop his pathetic mentality, using a "Sticks and stones" method: I just slag myself off :P

Note to Rizzuh: I admire your code, not your content (wooo I'm a super geek!!)

Ok I'm not going to get in to an argument with a crazed socialist who thinks the government system in 1984 was a good idea, but this is a website that glorifies violence for entertainment. Just take a look at the POTD archives, you'll find gems like this - http://csnation.counter-strike.net/cont...d.php?id=8208 This isn't a Mario Sunshine website giving away grenades to 8 year olds. If you have a problem with the contest then don't fucking enter it. If you have a problem with other adults entering and receiving harmful weapons then you better put a paper bag over your head because weapons have been around a hell of a lot longer then us crazy capitalist using them as a promotional deal to pay for bandwidth.

                                So to recap your points:

                                1) I'm a "crazy socialist" because I don't think that civilians should be given free access to lethal weapons.

                                And:

                                2) Because weapons exist within our society we should accept it and allow it to continue without obstruction.

Look, I know we don't agree on this and no, I won't be entering the competition. I am simply voicing my concerns and my disagreement. No hard feelings.

Note however that if Rizzuh had been less authoritarian and held off from groundless ridicule and oppressive, unwarranted banning, of anyone who dared to disagree with him, this debate would have not become so heated.
