HL2 List

ShackNews has posted a list of 'known' HL2 info floating about, as the NDA for HL2 has expired. Sadly no new articles went up and not much new information is around:

• all objects in the game world are affected by the physics
  
  
• movement speed of hl will be retained
  
  
• drivable vehicles in both single and multiplayer
  
  
• engine technology scales based on your system specs
  
  
• known locations: city17 in east europe, a harbor, a jail, the suburbs, a dried up ocean, an icebreaker (large ship)
  
  
• multiplayer is important and multiple game modes will be supported
  
  
• coming out before christmas 2003 is 'certain' (read: sep 30th)
  
  
  
  
• the editor is called 'hammer' and will be included, sounds like a complete development environment for maps, mods etc. (rizzuh: hammer is the name of the current hl map editor as well)
  
  
  
  
• tf2 will be using the hl2 engine, once they decided to use the hl2 engine they stopped giving information as they didn't want to blow anything relating to it. tf2 will 'arrive soon'.

It seems excellent and very enjoyable, but even though sequels to the game are much better, they just dont seem the same and fail.



Any one who played Aliens Vs. Predator online, probably noted AvP2 Is much better, but just lacked the originality of AvP. This goes for games like Unreal going into Unreal 2003. Unreal was a great online expierience, than U2k3 came out, and it just didnt seem the same. Don't forget Super Mario Bros. w\ Duck Hunt to Super Mario 64.



The point being this is, I hope HL2 and the mods it spawn, keep the same fun factor and just dont lose the feel of the game that has happened many times over again.
