    Metamod Fixed

In an exciting day for Chicken Mod fans everywhere, the MetaMod team has fixed their hitbox problems with the help of VALVe Software. Well, they think it's fixed, anyway, and have offered these two beta files as an offering to the HL gods:

UPDATE: The fix is now a final, and the links have been updated.[break="server files"]Let's hope, for the sake of admin_slap fans everywhere, they've managed to nip this one in the bud.

CS hitboxes are my major pet peeve. Programs like HLG and others that mess with either bullet registration, or hitboxes are major problems that should have been fixed ages ago.

First off, hlg does NOT mess with bullet registration and hasn't done ANYTHING with netcode for about a year and a half (back when it was csguard). Let's not spread more urban legends, ok?

Second, the metamod fix is now final (and your link is broken, btw). I hope nobody tried to update with leaked beta software...tsk tsk. :)

Finally, it is important to note that despite what the tone of the post implies, this WAS NOT metamod's fault. Valve did not include the blended model functions in their release of the last halflife SDK, so it was next to impossible for anyone to know to implement this function. Will, alfred, botman, UA, and others actually had to reverse engineer some of their findings in order to find out that this function is used.

In plain english, this means that Valve made an "oops" in not informing addon developers of this function, and it was something that they would have fixed long ago if they had known (this has been going on for a year, btw).

I'm not trying to rip into valve here, but let's acknowledge this fact before we try to pin blame on Will for something he was not given to work with.

          Thanks,

          -Rav

I didn't mean to imply that anyone is at fault, or that metamod sucks or anything like that - I'll let you make your own opinions on that one. I just thought I'd inject a little levity into the situation. I'm all for it being fixed if it means we'll have statsme accurately reflect stats. For, um, me.

MetaMod is complete shit so it's not like it matters if it "was valves fault" anyways. Come 1.6/1.7 I hope to see stuff like WWCL gone for good since theres NO NEED FOR IT

No worries, I didn't mean to be cranky either :)

BUT! For #8...I suspect you haven't touched so much as a "hello, world!" in your life. Metamod drives everything from chicken mods to statistics, to even administration mods (not JUST anticheat mods). Amazing, really - years of work go into making quality addons and it takes 2 seconds for your grubby hands to type that it is "sh*t". Troll much? :)

And not to really defend WWCL, but there is a definite need for anticheats in the gaming community today. Which one you use is up to your best judgement (hint, Cheating Death )

I admit that as much as I wasn't as rah rah about the fix, I kinda want to get home to play a bit to see for myself.

i'm really really really really reeeeeeeeeally glad that the hitboxes are fixed. wwcl is really nessessary for CAL play, it really enforces that false feeling of security.

i'm like, being *not* sarcastic on the first part. the second one is true on both parts.
