I love ATI -- ever since I got my first Radeon like 2 years ago.



I recently upgraded to a 9500 Pro, and I am super mega happy with it.



*in fact - the 2 newest games out - Enter The Matrix and Gta:Vice CIty

theres been a big todo about Nvidia rigging there drivers to work better than they should in a few benchmarking programs namely 3dmark03. By useing a few rendering tricks and other not so kosher methods to gain a few more points. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,1086025,00.asp

Thats because Nvidia 'tweaked' the drivers. And it didnt get 'owned'. I think youll find that both the FX5900 and the R9800P 256 are almost identical in performance, apart from the 3d mark 03 benchmark, where as afformentioned, Nvidia were found using dodgy tricks to boost this (ie culling parts of the display). Its all on the net.



Also, the GFFX is a substantial amount more expensive than the Radeon, and it simply is not worth the extra money. Perhaps if AF and AA performance was boosted, the card would be worth it, till then, nuh uh.

i personally think, that since CATALYST 3.2, ATi has been terrible. I get this Problem with BattleField now in 3.4, that never happened before. LONG LIVE CATALYST 3.1!!!

It's good to see that ATI has been working to improve their driver department a lot, and over recent months it's been showing up.



I don't see why there has to be a big fight about the two companies. Sure, I've got an nVIDIA card right now, but I'd have no problem purchasing an ATI card if it provided me the best performance at the price range I could afford. I dunno, it seems like there's a lot of rather stupid loyalism "just because we can" going on here, much like Ford and Chevy, or perhaps the XBOX and PS2.



And no, you are NOT allowed to start arguing the benefits of those later examples in this thread, though I know most of you are dumb enough to miss the whole point of my post and try to do so.

I have a Radeon 8500, and while I usually update my drivers instantly, when 3.2 came out, on a whim, I didn't download it. Then I saw the CS problems, and I couldn't believe that I had that kind of ironic lazy-luck. When the 3.4's came out and I saw 'improved performance across the line!' plus that bug was fixed, I downloaded them right then. Mistake. The 3.4's dropped my fps by ~20-30 frames. I rolled back to the 3.1's, and they're far better.

Here's a tip for those motherboards: DO NOT ENABLE "OPTIMIZE MEMORY PERFORMANCE FOR SYSTEM CACHE"

It corrupts your harddrive. Took me awhile to figure this out. Other than that, Radeons work fine in the A7N8X. Just use the 3.1 drivers.

I have a 8500 also (AIW) in CS i get a constant 100FPS at 1024x768 I added a few custom model to the mix and it will drop during heated battles but otherwise the 3.4 drivers have been great.

ey, mine drops frames during heated battles, it didn't on my Gf4... this bothers me, i'll try the 3.1 drivers... taking a few step backs.. ack...



i'm thinking about getting a p4c800 and p4 2.4c, thoughts?

Those 800 p4's are badass no doubt about it. Little pricey though
