    Video Games Improve Reflexes

The San Francisco (treat!) Chronicle's site has an interesting study up. They claim action-based video games "improve a person's visual perception".
Researchers at the University of Rochester found that young adults who regularly played video games full of high-speed car chases and blazing gun battles showed better visual skills than those who did not. For example, they kept better track of objects appearing simultaneously and processed fast-changing visual information more efficiently.
It's not like nobody saw this coming. I think it's safe to say video games constantly work reflexes to a level higher than a normal person's (because gamers definitely aren't normal).

I don't understand why researchers are wasting their time with this, but I suppose it could be valuable in the future.. well no actually I don't. Develop your own opinions.

I have really slow reflexes sometimes. I only have my fast game like reflexes if I'm not tired or I've had some coff-ay.

They also had a little thing on CNN today about how video games improve your hand-eye coordination, reflexes, etc. There is still hope!

Um, you guys didn't know this? It's common sense. You don't get that twitch AWP headshot from across the map because you have poor reflexes, ya know.

I agree with this, after i started playing CS i found myself improving alot in reflexes. I done really cool stuff like catching things before they plummet to the ground smashing, or catching things thrown my direction easily. i think it also improves you're fighting skills and stamina, whenever you feel like beating the hell out of someone you just imagine they just cheated in a server you were in. Works for me, i wouldn't stop hitting them, screaming "you cheating bas****!!" i'd probably continue that until i tire myself out or he stops moving. Who says games promotes violence? They don't, cheaters do!!

I've always felt that my many years of car racing games drastically helped me learn how to drive a real car. It helps out the most in dark windy back-roads and crazy highways.

                      Wow, they improve reflexes. Yay.

When I was a kid the big thing was how good videogames were for "hand-eye" coordination, which would be useful if you're flying a fighter jet. I imagine most of you aren't.

Look, like almost everything, if you spend too much time playing video games, it's bad for you. End of story.

And by the way, still no cure for cancer.

Already knew this. Games are still bad for you. You could easily gain this coordination and reflexes if you played football like normal scallys. Most people here arent normal though :)
