New CS Movies

Ok, I'm kinda surprised to be the one saying this because Lord knows I didn't think the "Nothing but Man" movies were all that great in terms of skill, just entertainment: *points and laughs* Lookit that noob! That's hilarious!



But geez some of you guys are being overly harsh. It's their first effort, cut 'em some slack. At least I think they know what they can do differently to improve on the rest of their series, assuming you critics on crack haven't chased them away already.



And what's up with this elitist "Anything that's on a pub is pointless" attitude I'm sensing? I feel pretty confident stating that for 99% of the people viewing the movie, a pub is all they've ever played on. The major impetus for why news item filters were put in place on CSN (I'm guessing) was probably because of all the rants in the comments section about "Who gives a flying flarg about all these dang matches and competitions and drafts for crying out loud?!?" I'm not one of these, and once spammed all my friends with emails keeping them up to date with scores from the CPL as it progressed, but I can understand the complete and utter lack of interest.



Anyway, my point is that for those 99%, quality pub footage is going to be just as interesting to watch as CAL-I footage. Come down off your high horse and apply some objectivity.



Now if it's utter crap pub footage, then by all means deride it as such. But don't shoot it down out of hand.

These days any old headshot will get a place in a skill movie. I think that it's not just the kills that matter, it's the tactics used to get the kills.



In movies, the producer should show a little before the kill, like if they had a good spot that the enemy was oblivous to, or if they completely got them by surprise.

Morrigu: probably because the eDonkey network is slow as hell. A regular DSL user has 128Kbps up.. and since he's always uploading to four people (with emule), that's 115/8/4 = 3.6 KBps he'll be uploading. (Wow, 3.6KBps to download a movie!) I said 115 kilobits because nobody ever reaches their "theoretical" line's maximum. It's usually around 90%.



Oh, and you have to wait in queues for emule forever too, so what's your point again?

I'm not saying that user themselves would do all the uploading. If CS-N, CS-Flicks etc sites would support eMule network with cs-flicks, I'm sure we could get some decent speeds AND those sites would save on bandwidth, since all users all helping in uploading. I'm not saying that users should do 99% of the uploading, but if these cs-vid-sites could cut down their bandwidth usage with even 25%, it would be a lot of money for them.



And I'm sure there are cs-fans who would share the movies faster than 128kbits. 10mbits line sharing 200mb clip for even a few hours would make a big difference for a lot of users.



But I think that BitTorrent would be better solution. Downloading of these files is greatest when the links get posted on CS-N or similiar sites, and 90% of all downloading happens then.

Well #39 (mouth) I honestly dont agree with you on the part that all skill movies are just a bunch of CPL demos smacked together. There are some that attempt to do better, such as militia2 and electronic warfare. But I think if you look beyond that, it gives everyone a fun format to get a part of CS that they might not know. Most of the community isnt really that hardcore to go on gotfrag and sogamed and download demos, but they like to watch some highlights with catchy music.

Though I think it's great to encourage all forms of CS-themed media in CS-nation, posting this kind of crap IS encouraging bad movies, as #39 said. It only makes US and CSNATION look bad.

I scratch my head and wonder WHY hasnt csnation bothered to have a CS player that KNOWS cs movies, and KNOWS how to actually PLAY cs (cough unlike rizzuh) to review them? Like I said before, I think plenty of us would volunteer our time to write reviews or help CS-nation, including myself.



Oh well, I had similar arguements a week or two ago on an EVEN WORSE movies posted here on cs-nation, and then I see this...

I agree completely. I don't care how bad the video is... almost any video is more entertaining than posting a bunch of "scores" of CAL-something and all those predictions that come along with it. However, you don't see us "casual" players spamming the comments with "we dont care it sucks" or the likes? No, instead I simply change my CS-N preferences so that I don't see all those scores and whatever they do now.



Now I can go on with my boring life and know that all you "pro" gamers can get your fix, while I am happily left out of the loop.



So now one of the "casual" gamers posts a video and you CAL-something guys don't get your "fix" off it? You seem to get really angry the way you're spouting your disgust. It reminds of that gamespy article that talked about why "pro gaming sucks." You seem to fall right into the stereotype which that article tried so hard to fit you into. Obviously there are many, many pro gamers that are mature individuals who don't deserve the negative comments that I'm saying, either. I'm sure they probably frown upon the immature people just as much as I do.

yes ofcourse. the most i have been able to DL is at around 1,000 kbytes/sec, i use it mostly for getting movies off kazaa.
