Yea i even tried to make a new account but it said it couln't contact steam so i knew something was down. So i shutdown my comp and took a break and came back and it was working. :) This isn't the first time this has happened either!!!

Just something worth mentioning... How come the m4 player model in the 1.6 BETA has an acog scope instead of the correct ironsights? its a bit weird... obviosly it still has a lot of things to be worked out.... soo... whens 1.7 coming out ?

The new text is fucked up in 800x600 res. (both 16 bit and 32 bit) for me. Is there any solution?

Text is garbage for me in 800x600, in 640 or 1024 i can read it but it still looks nasty.



On the server where i play it seems that half the players experience the text problem, the others dont understand what we are complaining about. Their text seems just fine.



I have a Geforce3 ti200 and others that reported this problem also used that card.



Does anyone have any insight into this, or have access to this card and another card - and could confirm that the text garbage issue is card related?

Hmm I have a GeForce 3 Ti500. My text is normal sized. At least the text that people write etc. The X,C,V menus look horrible though. They cover like 25% of my screen in 1152x864 resolution...



I also got like 60 fps when I played aztec with the rain (the fps was stuck at 60 because of XP...) & it went down to around 20 - 30 fps when I came close to the fog & rain. It also went down to 12 when I threw a smoke grenade! :) But then I downloaded Riva Tuner & fixed the Vsync bug so now I have 99 fps almost always even with smokes and everything. This might help for other people too who have reported bad fps on aztec. It jsut that it's a shame that the default cl_weather is on maximum (2) I want more fog damnit

And btw the text issue i am referring to is not size-related.

My problem is the spacing between letters in chat text, which seems to be negative in 800x600.



In other words letters are "stacked" on each other allowing u to see only half of each letter.

speedskunk, I have a GF3 Ti200, and I normally play at 1024x768, however, I just tested 800x600 and all text looks normal for me, the same as it did at 1024x768. I tried 16 and 32 bit, and both were the same, normal text. Doesn't appear to be card specific

No I haven't tried that. But I got a tip that lowering my resolution to 1024x768 would make the text readable. It didn't change one bit :) I'm usually playing on a server called kontra1 & they use Adminmod or something so most of the time, the whole screen is filled with annoying text crap thingies



I can see why you think your problem is annoying too though :) Maybe they'll fix it soon. They did fix a bug I reported some time ago. Before this update, if you ran while pressing your console button, you would keep running until you hit a wall. That has been fixed apparently but I can't see that they told us in this update Hmm!

I know the text looks really annoying and takes up too much of the screen at points but the way i see it, it is a minor bug since steam has been up and down the past week. Be thankful that you can even play!
