    New VAC Module

Eric Smith has sent word via the HLDS mailing lists that a new VAC module has been released. This module is the start of the progressive bans for cheating. You can read the entire posting below.

Oh, and thanks to the other 5 million people that submitted this too.[break="eric smith's email"]
*** This only affects Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. ***

We've updated the public security modules again. These security modules use

a new banlist format and address. They also introduce progressively longer

ban times each time someone is detected.

Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves

automatically. Let me know if you have any problems with these security

modules and we'll look into them right away.

    Thanks.

      New VAC Module

We just received word that there is a new VALVe Anti-Cheat Module that has been pushed out to all the servers. Apparently this module corrects some issues that 56k clients have been having with playing on secure servers. As usual, the server should use the new modules without a restart. If you find any issues, please e-mail Eric Smith about them.

Thanks to First2Die for the info, and thanks to Disk2 for the e-mail.

      UPDATE

I have been informed that this module does NOT include blocks for recently released cheats, although those updates will be included in the near future.[break="Eric Smith's e-mail"]*** This only affects Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. ***

We've updated the public security modules again. Some clients with 56k connections have been experiencing problems where they get intermittently disconnected when playing on secure servers. These security modules should help correct those problems.

      Thanks.

        New VAC Module

Looks like VALVe has released a new anti-cheat module. This module apparently checks for hardware errors, but does not report the disconnection as a cheat if hardware errors are found. Your servers should update themselves automatically without having to reboot them.

Thanks for the heads up, exo.[break="Click here for more info"]
We've updated the public security modules again. These security modules mainly address some issues with stability and false positives.

We've added checks to detect false positives caused by hardware errors. If a hardware error is detected on the client's computer, they are disconnected from the game server but not reported as a cheater. The client will see a message in their console explaining that a hardware error was detected.

The wallhack block we've been working on is not included with this release.

Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically. Let me know if you have any problems with these security modules and we'll look into them right away.

        Thanks.

VAC stops pirateers too. There's only a handfull of valid CD keys out there on kazaa and i think like 99% of them are banned by VAC till like 2008 cause all the cheaters use em, and the cheap asses who dont buy HL are pissed as fuck.

What about those who got false positives before this update? They'll be really pissed off, maybe valve should address this.
