being a server admin.. when i think a guy is cheating, usually the first thing i do is look at the won ID, and if its one from the beginig ill let it slide, thinking either he is taht good now, or at least he has been around long enough to learn to repect the game.



If its a huge, new wonID, usually ill boot them or scan the hell outta them, cuz i figure they either are cheating, or are just some dumb generic FPS fan who finaly decided to get cs

I missed out on the beta stage by days literally - when I was introduced to HL and CS 1.0 had only just come out. Ah well...



CS2 is almost inevitable when HL2 gets in a few months, taking advantage of what seems to be a vastly improved engine.

Therefore, original CS's days are numbered

Good subject for a Counter-Point. Probably going to bring in a lot of comments. I have written a personal record: Longest Post Ever. Anyway, this will probably be added to the last comment I made since I keep thinking of things I would like to say but it is after I just made a post.



Heh, my friends play CS. They sometimes go to play different games like TFC and they start saying bad stuff about CS. I just tell them that they will come back. They always do. Sometimes those phases get longer and I doubt that they will, but then my doubts are gone when they come back. Phew.. I am just typing for the sake of typing now.

I started with beta 5ish and server hopped lone gun style till around beta 6.5 when I found a server with some cool people and became a regular and part of the community. I posted on the official cs.net forums (otf lol) around then and found my way on to CSNation, also did some work on the RealBot team so if you see a bot running around called MikeJ thats why.



The beta days were awesome and even though I didn't start in the way early days I did get a good taste of it and I can't see the same thing being repeated with CS2.



I actually got bored of the pub scene around 1.1 (too many cheaters + same old same old) so i took a break. Late 1.3 i got in to the clan scene and competitive CS and have worked my way up to cal-m and don't see myself stopping for a while, not until CS2 anywhay. Oh and I also still comment whore CSN.

Four Years since CS was first released...most retail games don't go through even a single year of popularity, and ths MOD has gone through four!

Yea one of the drawing points in to CS was how exciting a kill was. It was challenging because you died so fast and didn't respawn, so when you finally dropped that camping T with your p90 (sry rizzuh) it was rewarding, unlike sniping people on 2fort.

I started at 1.0, but I didn't really start to play till 1.1. I really, really still hate the jumping change, I think they shouldn't have gone so extreme with it. I can see the problem with having guns be inaccurate while jumping... but that stupid stumble step still doesn't make any sense to me. I really, REALLY hope that in CS2 they don't have that stutter step, as I remember, they only put it in to get rid of bunnyhopping (which is still around)

I only started in 1.5 so I guess I can't comment personally about past versions of CS... but anyway, nice CP guys, the only one I've bothered to actually read. Though the P90 still owns :p

ive been around for quite some time, 3 years of having it at my house and before that at friends places. i remember when 7.0 came out, and then 7.1 a few days later, and thats when they added the head shot icon. i saw it for the first time on nuke and had no idea what it was, i thought it was a crossbow(!) and next round scanned all the weapons before finding out there were in fact no new additions.



and yes, the release around that time was CRAZY. i think foption, office, and other real maps were released, but EVERYONE was playing jeepathon2k!! it was so fun those first few days when everyone would want to just drive instead of snipe. and csnation was overthrown with jeepathon2k screenshots for the potd. hehe



i remember when i downloaded 1.0 also, it was a schoolnight and i waited up and got it, installed it, and HATED it. i remember it looked like the players were turning their torsos sideways when running and it looked so dumb. so i deleted it and reinstalled 7.1 of course the next day i got it again and eventually liked it. but man, it was such a huge change

Ive been playing since Beta 3 first got released, and I agree with the article full heartidly... and yes I wish CS2 would have a beta stage =)

My sarcasm meter isn't showing any sarcasm aside from the fact that me saying I have a meter that detects sarcasm is sarcastic in itself and that would read as "slightly sarcastic" on the sarcastic meter if I did infact have one. What?
