Why the hell would they run it on the current engine? That makes no sense at all.
I didn't say it would be on HL's engine, but is it assumed it is going source, or maybe Unreal's engine, or what? Everybody seems so sure, but I just don't remember anyone saying what it's on. I mean, source does make sense... I was just wondering.
You're a "dork" who needs to stop reading "slashdot."
That was the funniest one of them all!
Throw crates at each other? What? Why don't they just add pillow fights?
Eureka! That gives me a wonderful idea for a new mod! Slumber Party: Pillow Fighter! You are Susan Fluffybritches and you came over for to your first slumber party. Low an behold, a pillowfight breaks out, and your job is to knock ... er ... shake ... uh ...

Quality physics with lifelike muscle structures? Anybody?

this is totally off topic but, what are the system requirements for half-life 2. i think the game looks so good that i must play it. but my computer is only a intel celeron 852mghz with 128 megabytes of ram and a geforece 2

I think it makes sense, because CS is based of of what Half Life is using as it's engine, so it makes sense that CS2 will use what HL2 is using. I don't see why they'd use a different engine, they've spent all that time developing this Source engine, and it'd be silly if they gave a different engine to CS2.

They said the engine is scalable, and that people with a Intel/AMD 733mhz with a half decent graphics card and enough ram should do. If I was you, I'd buy a 256 MB or even a 512 MB stick of ram too add to your system.

I was hoping for a couple of more serious ideas and perhaps replies.

My idea was about Einstein using the gravity gun and throwing scientists around the room. :-(

I'm worried that the open-ended physics of the Source engine might make the gameplay too crazy and open-ended.

For example, now that there's the realistic physics, does that mean you'll be able to destroy buildings with explosives (by blowing up the supports)? So suppose you were playing on a map like (the CS2 version of) Assault. Would the CTs be able to buy a lot of grenades and blow up all the walls, causing the entire building to collapse, killing all the Terrorists?

Or, for example, a (CS2) Iceworld. Would you be able to melt and deform the ice with grenades, eventually ending up with a competely flat map?

If this were possible, then map makers' would have a much harder time in balancing maps, scripting the physics, etc. etc.....

Oh, didn't you hear? Gooseman is banning the use of *iceworld* and fy_* in map names in CS2. It must have been in the news at some point...
