    VAC Updated

Valve's Anti-Cheat has been updated for, presumably, both Day of Defeat and, of course, Counter-Strike. No word on what cheats are detected, but it's logical to believe that the new module fixes the latest version of the Online Game Cheats' client hook, OGC 10 beta 6.

CS-Nation recommends that all server operators restart their servers in light of this new module. Valve Software says it is working on a fix to issues such as dropping clients after an automatic update, so hopefully these restarts will not be required in the future.

      VAC Updated

The VAC Security Modules have been updated once again. Nothing special, just new cheat detections, not that that is a bad thing. Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically. View Eric Smith's email to the HLDS Mailing List below.[break="eric's e-mail"]
*** This only affects Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. ***

We've updated the public security modules again. Your Counter-Strike and Day

of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically.

These security modules contain new cheat detections.

Let me know if you have any problems with the security modules and we'll

look into them right away. Thanks.

        VAC Updated

Eric "Mantrain" Smith has posted to the HLDS list that a new module for VALVe's Anti-Cheat (VAC) is available. This update covers a lot more than just CS cheats, so here's the full e-mail:
We've updated the public security modules.

These security modules contain architecture enhancements, new cheat detections, and support for Steam TFC and Steam HLDM dedicated servers.

To run your Steam TFC or Steam HLDM dedicated server in "secure" mode, you'll need to manually edit your "liblist.gam" file to include:
        secure "1"
We'll roll out a Steam dedicated server update with updated liblist.gam files as soon as we can.

Let me know if you have any problems with the security modules and we'll look into them right away. Thanks.
CS servers will be automatically upgraded with the new VAC modules.

          VAC Updated

The VAC Security Modules have been updated. Basically, this update allows cheat logging to work in CS 1.6, whatever that means. CS servers will be automatically upgraded with the new VAC modules. View Nick Shaffner's email below.[break="the e-mail"]
          The usual stuff.

Additionally, cheat logging should now work for everyone running 1.6.

          Good Night,

          Nick

Yet another update, excellent. So I figure we have 20 minutes until the cheats are updated. The cheats will stop when valve counters each cheat update, back-to-back. Vicious Circle it is.

I haven't seen an obvious hacker for a couple of months now. Except for this one fuckhead ringer we had in a scrim the other day. Don't use #findringer kids.

yeah, most cheaters are immature, prepubescent 12 yearolds, so most of them probably dont pass vac till weeks after the update ;-p

pshaww im sure theres PLENTY of hackers out there...

now ill be the FIRST one to admit that its skillz alot of the time.

                              but consider this

...I needed to view a demo with wallhacks on...

...I DL ogc 2.7...saw the demo (turns out he was haxing but anyways)

...got a little currious and decided to test it out on a pub...

End REsult: its never been so easy to hack. Just install...run..and start CS...hax almighty!!

(Actually, IMHO using hacks is harder than without..not only do you need to know the map inside out but wallhacks doesnt detect people unless you either see them or they are engaged with someone else..)

gotta get used to them... Won't the cheaters learn one day and leave honest players alone?
