I'd probably care more if the cheating scene was still bad in leagueplay. Otherwise, cheaters that hang around in public servers aren't all that difficult to deal with in-game, they're mostly morons striving for attention who simply blame it on the fact that "the game is boring".

I heard that Natural Selection will also come with Valve Anti-Cheat from the start. To implement NS Anti-Cheat, will there be a larger VAC update than normal at the end of the month for all servers, or do VAC servers only download for their specific mod?

Sometimes they released a new module just for CS, not DoD.

Maybe they'll actally suprise up and implement a sound hack block in the client patch of 1.6... it'll require some kind of client update, and not just server-side mostly likely.

I believe the wallhack block works by not sending player position information to the client unless they're in view, making differentiating between different video dll's unnecessary.

Alright WTF is going on nearly every cheat website now has a disclaimer. Is this because ID sued the ogc team? Are they really able to keep there cheats up because of a law passed by clinton in 1995?

They also state they will take people to court if accessed by any anti-piracy or government group? how is that allowed? has our government gotten so lax on the internet that laws protect people who are breacking others? The Half-Life License agreement cleary states that making cheats for the multiplayer aspect is not allowed arent they breaking the law?

There is a good chance that classic cs is ruined in the last weeks cheaters have taken over since the last three vac recalls.

Cs 1.6 Will not be our salvation because Cs never had a license agreement.

There will be no cheaters in CS:CZ because of a new License Agreement and new vac that will come with it.

Those who produce cheats for CS:CZ will not be benned from gameplay but taken to court. Websites who hold these hacks will also be prosecutable by law.

If you do not accept the license agreement dont buy the game.

If any one can please research the 1995 Internet agreement law Passed by Bill Clinton anyone who houses such files that break other laws should be prosecuted for the laws there websites or webhost breack.

                        VAC Updated

Another new VALVe anti-cheat module has been released for Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. Servers will automatically update. Here's the info:
These security modules have several new cheat detections.

We're looking into the problems that Counter-Strike 1.6 (Steam) dedicated servers are having with the security modules (clients can't connect to the servers). This problem only affects Steam dedicated servers.
                        Short & sweet.

                          VAC Updated

According to Eric Smith on the HLDS mailing lists, VAC has been updated again. The new modules fix a problem that Steam clients were having with yesterday's module update.

Eric also mentioned that the new wallhack block is still not included with this release. Click below for the full e-mail.[break="click through for eric smith's e-mail"]

We've updated the public security modules again. These security modules fix

a problem Steam clients were having with the security modules we released

                          yesterday.

The wallhack block we've been working on is not included with this release.

Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves

automatically. Let me know if you have any problems with these security

modules and we'll look into them right away.

                          Thanks.

                            VAC Updated

Eric Smith over at VALVe informed the HLDS society that some new VAC security modules are out, released, available, however you like it! Some of the the good news:
We've updated the beta security modules. These beta security modules should detect all of the current versions of OGC and Joolz.
Let us all join our hands and hope that updates continue in this manner and that soon the battle will be over![break="Click to read the whole quote"]
                            1) This beta test is only for Counter-Strike servers...not Day of Defeat.

                            2) The password for the beta security modules is still "vactest", so make sure you have...

                            -testmodule vactest

...in your command line and restart your server. If you're already running with the beta security module password in your command line, your server should update itself.

                            3) We haven't heard of any problems with the Linux beta server we released. If you haven't already downloaded/installed it, you should consider doing so. This beta version should fix the problems some servers have been experiencing when we update the security modules. The Win32 version *does not* seem to have the same problem.

All you need to do is download the file and replace your old one. It's

always a good idea to back-up your old version first. Clients using

1.1.1.0/1.0.0.5 should not have any problems connecting to your server.

Let me know if you have any problems with the beta security modules and we'll look into them right away.

                            Thanks.

                              VAC Updated

The Valve Anti-Cheat has just been updated again:
We've updated the public security modules again. If you were helping us test the beta security modules over the weekend by adding "-testmodule " to your command line, you can now remove that command line option and restart your server.

If you weren't testing the beta security modules, your Counter-Strike servers should update themselves automatically. If you find your servers are suddenly having problems, try restarting the servers.

                              Thanks.

I hear that besides just cheat fixes this new security module fixes a bug that Linux servers were experiencing. On the non-Windows boxes the anti-cheat would become disabled after a few maps, but that is now fixed.

                                VAC Updated

Once again, the Valve Anti-Cheat has been updated. Thanks to Achilles for the copy+paste:
                                *** This only affects Counter-Strike servers. ***

We've updated the public security modules again. Your Counter-Strike

servers should update themselves automatically. If you find your servers

are suddenly having problems, try restarting them.

These modules should detect OGC's OpenGl Hack 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0. These

modules will also fix the problems clients with Voodoo cards have been

                                having.

We're reporting detected cheaters to our master ban list server. We won't

be banning anyone yet, but we'll be gathering information about detected

cheaters. You will see outgoing traffic to: 205.158.143.67:27013.
This comes less than 24 hours after OGC v2.0 was released. Another victory for Valve.
