Cliffe is there a reason the USP in CZ is using the original CS default model?

Can we get a new texture for the USP seeing how it's a new model...?
It's not. The model is new, but with the old texture (but color corrected).
And seeing how there's all these improvements/updates happening, any chance that the defaults weapon models will change in plain ol' CS? I love using custom models and all, but it's pretty rough to go back to the defaults when you play in a league. Spiffier looking defaults coming anytime soon?Comment

From what people are saying the crosshair size seems to be entirely a matter of individual preference. I wonder, how tough would it be to code an option that would make crosshair size something that you could set independently of your res? For instance, what if I could select a crosshair sized for 1024x768 res while I play in 800x600?Comment

That wouldn't be hard to do at all. Unreal Tournament had a very cool corrshair and HUD customization thing, where you could change the shape, size and colour of both your crosshair and your HUD. No reason why they couldn't do the same in CS too.

You know what I'd really like though? A solid crosshair. Because you know, ever since that last update I just keep LOSING MY DAMN CROSSHAIR, a solid crosshair would really come in handy. Or you know, they could just put the size back to how it was before and say they're sorry for fooking everyone around. First the high-res people, now the low-res people. And for what? The crosshair was fine as it was anyway, there was never any reason what-so-ever for them to change it at all.
But anyway yeah, they could easily put in an option to choose your crosshair size, colour, shape, everything. But you know, they won't, because it'd take more then half an hour's work, and everyone would like it, so naturally VALVe won't bother with it.Comment

Blah blah blah
You know, I think I now understand why people hate the new, bigger crosshairs. The accuracy of the current gun has always been visible through the size of the crosshair - but I reckon some people have just got it confused now. Instead of the gun defining the size of the crosshair, they believe the size of the crosshair defines the accuracy of the gun. They want tiny crosshairs back such that every gun is accurate to within a nanometre. What they don't realise is that the guns are as accurate as they were before - just the crosshairs changed.
It's the percieved change that I think upsets and confuses those players that keep whining about how their game has turned from uberkillingmachine to completeblindnoobieonkeyboard since the crosshairs got bigger.
Ok, I'm a few days late with this earth-shattering mini-explanation, but I don't care.Comment

How about to make it fair accross all resolutions? I have an LCD monitor, and so I can't try resolutions higher than 1024x768, and I always assumed that the crosshair size was the same physical size on all resolutions. Then they changed it so it was fair, and all the high-resolution people starting whining 'cos they no longer had the *very slight* advantage. Jesus Christ, if you can't aim with a slightly bigger crosshair, then you're a n00b.
As far as the crosshairs go, I don't understand why they couldn't be left alone, or atleast give an option to pick the size of your crosshair instead of forcing it on everyone. Not that big of a deal though. I'm happy with the combination of the two headshot icons, happy the awp is still slower (American pro-teams might finally lean away from awping), couldn't care less about the shield, it's not allowed in leagues anyway.
I'm OK with the AWP delay. It took a whole 5 minutes to adapt to it, but it's OK. Instead of jumping around corners and switching to AWP and shooting, you just switch to AWP and then jump around said corner. People should get used to the AWP change, because if you don't, you'll get left behind and instead of playing CS, you'll be posting hundreds of times a day on online petitions lmao
Oh, wp Valve+Cliffe with the new headshot icon. Now we have the best of both updates. We now know what gun was used (quicker than looking in console anyway), and we don't have an annoying icon.
Also, I think Valve should ask the mapping greats to make more match orientated maps like de_clan1_mill, and these should be made official. Just slap a moderately believable CT/T scenario and it's fine.
Hopefully, this update will show you whiners that Valve does listen to the community, and it does admit mistakes where mistakes have clearly been made.
P.S. The AWP delay was NOT a mistake kthxbaiComment

Yes there was - I run at 1152xSOME_STUPID_NUMBER resolution, and I was forever losing my crosshair. I shouldn't need to search the screen for a crosshair - I'd much rather search it for enemies. And then, what's the point of having a dynamic crosshair if it's change in size is invisible when its that tiny already?!
And for what? The crosshair was fine as it was anyway, there was never any reason what-so-ever for them to change it at all.
The crosshair changes were good for me, but it looks like they'll shortly be good for everyone.Comment

Johnsto! Got any new CS map projects coming up?
Same question to you Barney!
I just had an idea (it's 99% likely that someone has said it before but...) to add a server cvar to restrict the shield. It can be done with some server plugins quite easily, but seeing as the shield is significantly banned on a lot of servers, shouldn't there be a built in cvar that allows the shield to be restricted on all servers, and without requiring a 3rd party mod?appended @ [time="1083667771"]uhaulball wrote..
Like the beta versions, I'm told :x
edit: altho i dont think 1.6 is that bad either. just too many changes too fast. (compared to the older versions)
I like improvements being made at a higher rate. It doesn't take that long to get used to them, and it's better than waiting months for a huge patch to solve all problems and then having loads of changes that take longer to adjust to.Comment

how about valve tries asking the pro's what they should do about cs, they're probably the only people who want the game alive and obviously want to do what's right for cs if they're making profit out of it in competitions. asking a few mad public server players is only going to hurt cs. doesn't it seem logical to allow someone who's been playing cs for 4-5 years make a decision?Comment

Having 1024*768 xhair in 800*600 or 640*480 is really great. Since first shot for most of the weapons is fairly accurate, seeing where you aim more exactly = less randomness. Ppl having a e-sports/"power-player" view, who mostly complain about the awp delay, should like this change. Don't always whine, just like something :)Comment

The gun is useless [in league play].
Because the community generally has no idea what they want.
Half the community want the AWP to be less powerful, half want it to stay. There is no consensus for change in this case (if there ever has been).
Bunnyhopping, quickswitch, strafejumping all made counter-strike an unpleasant experience for a lot of players and contributed to the stigma now attached to the game that comes up time and time again in any discussions about CS.
Good riddance to quickswitch, It was cheap and detrimental to the game. Please don't come back with "but it was a skill to quickswitch! Just because the n00bs can't do it Ha Ha!" because that's utter horseshit. The skill of the weapon should lie in using it the way intended, not by abusing a bug that should have been addressed a long time ago. You may as well argue the case for keeping skywalking in because it gives you an advantage.Comment
