They look like tits if you're 12 years old and you think anything that involves two circles is LOL TITS.

Hint 1: Tits would probably not be on top of a head. I know there are some fucked up porn videos on the Internet, but even basic anatomy will prove this one!

Hint 2: Unless you're Irish, no tit would be that white. And even then it would have a freckle or something.

Hint 3: Even on black people, nipples aren't solid black. Those are pupils.

I just use it as a filter because then idiots won't waste their time on my real comments due to the fact that they're too busy looking at my tits.

I'm going to go take a shower now. I sure do hate taking showers though because every time I wash my tits I can't see for an hour. Moron.

It's okay, I'm all for joking when it's included with something thought out like your comment. I'm glad you can see it my way.

edit: Clan play really does take a lot of time. You're right about that. We had a lot of trouble staying active because of school and stuff. It's an excellent experience though.

edit2: I'm not sure I clearly brought about my main point. I wanted to avoid the FPS thing, but it appears I focused on that too much. Let me clarify what I'm trying to say a bit for those who might not have caught it so we don't get into the FPS-Eye thing.

There are three scenarios I see possible:

        1) Weather, sound, all that jazz stay in aztec and the casual gamers can enjoy the tiny bit of "realism" this brings about, while those who actually BENEFIT from the FPS boost are impeded.

        2) The "jazz" is taken out, and while the realism in a 6 year old game is not there quite as much, both groups will see increased performance from the game, thus benefitting.

        3) The anti-clan group tells the clan group to get new computers and stfu. This is not very feasible, because if the clan players had jobs they wouldn't be playing CS all day in a clan.

With these three in mind, I don't see how 2 isn't the best option for everyone. In reality, a fourth, "LEAGUE RULE CHANGE" option would be the absolute best, but as I already stated that just isn't happening because it could put some less informed players at a huge disadvantage.

For the last time, it's nothing to do having a "5 year old sucky computer" but the fact that a demo has to be recorded in the background as well as rendering the level, action and smoke at the same time. Recording a demo is like hitting the screenshot key 15 times a second for the entire time you're playing.

I think I have to dissagree. I run a AMD Athlon 600 Geforce 4 440 mx. I have recorded demos on Aztec with weather on and smokes/flashes everywhere. My FPS never droped below 40.

Btw it was a 20 person server 10Vs10 soooooooo not only was there more action but that ment more flashes and smoke.

I don't think the Thunder is the problem to this. I am in a clan. I have been in CAL OGL, Proving Grounds, UGS ect... All those leagues just made me hate competition even more. BAsicly because everyone who is in a league thinks they are better then everyone else. They get the idea in their head that if they die it had to be a hardware problem. They make excuses for their death because somehow they are soooo elite.

Insted of taking things out completely why not just make a command for the map that will shut down the Thunder. It could be a server thing so noone has to type a command in their console.

I am sick and tired of you guys letting little 12 year olds pull you around by their whips. Screw leagues and Screw CS, I like Natural-Selection better anyways.

I agree with the idea that if the game is older than the computer, then the computer should run it fine.

I also don't think this should be narby's problem. If it is solved by cl_weather 0, then let the league do it. If the league wants to make it's own version without rain, then let the league do it.

They chose to include narby's map as-is. If they can't deal with the map how it is, that's their problem.

That said, it's entirely up narby whether to change the map or not. I love the rain and stuff, but I won't turn it on when it gives such a huge FPS drop. If it didn't give an fps drop, then I'd have it on all the time. 'Nuff said.

By the way, can anyone point me to the rules where it says you have to have cl_weather on anyway? Is it even in the rules?

Narby, I love you and all buddy, but you know that one isn't even remotely true. Demos only have to record the data stream for recreation later, not what's being rendered. It's merely capturing a few kb/s of data and storing it (basically whatever gets transferred over the network), where as taking literal screenshots that often isn't even possible with most computers (you need serious hard disk buffering and such to record video images in realtime).

In an entire match you're recording far less info than five seconds of your proposed 15fps printscreen experiment would record.

So you're writing a few kb/s to your hard drive -- the weather effects can't affect that much, and the processor usage of storing the info necessary for recreation of a demo is very minimal. I'm not saying there's no impact, but seriously, it's nothing an even remotely modern computer shouldn't be able to do with EASE.

As far as puffycloud's argument goes, the one thing I will definitely agree with is that you can tell a huge difference between 40, 60, or 100 fps. We've had this stupid argument time and time again, and every time it's been pointed out very clearly that many of us can tell the difference in reaction speed and smoothness of motion, even beyond what the monitor's refresh rate is.

One more note, basically all league players I know play at a sufficiently low resolution that a decent monitor should be able to refresh at 100-150hz, not just 85hz.

That doesn't change the fact that I still believe everyone should push much, much harder for CAL to change, rather than the map. It's still Narby's choice to change the map if he chooses to, though.

Yes, I understand how the system works. I wasn't speaking literally.

The point of the matter is, when players run a demo AND weather AND are in a firefight, their framerates decrease to the point where reaction time can be lost because (for example) a weapon change make take longer. Disabling weather has proven to help this.

So, honestly, what's the big deal with just letting the CAL teams disable the weather, instead of just forcing everyone to not have weather at all?

Nobody answered me on where in the rules it's written that they can't.

I've always been a supporter of having options as opposed to forcing a choice on everyone. The way it is now, you have the option to turn it off. By removing it, you no longer have the option to turn it on.

I think CAL's in the wrong here. *shrug*

seems more like valve's poor optimisation for demo recording when their new particle system is enabled.

about the fps thing... this was taken from someone else:

                          "

eyes dont work like monitors/cameras do. that should be obvious enough. The human brain doesnt use discrete sampling like digital cameras etc use, ie one sample per time interval. the human brain (and the eyes too) sample the world continuously, therefore the eyes are capable in theory of 'seeing' infinite frames per second.

even more so, different parts of the eye are more sensitive than others, ie the 'fovea' (pls correct me if this is the wrong name for it), and some parts are not sensitive to light at all.

comparing eyes to discrete sampling equipment is not a step in the right direction. eyes are continuous sampling 'equipment'.

Also theres a thing called motion blur, which does not exist on monitors running at x fps. but definitely exists within the eyes. motion blur is caused by the delayed reaction for the chemical transmitters within the photoreceptor cells (those that are stimulated by light) to break down into different forms etc."
