Ahh a lovely mix of news for this slow Tuesday evening.

• if you didn't check out csn last week, be sure to check out our saturday ketchup and get your ass in the know.
  
  
  
  
• with the summer cpl event (click for preview) just days away, the map list has been announced. winners will play on cobble, dust2, aztec, train, inferno, and finally de_nuke (making a return as the finale). losers will play on dust2, aztec, train, clan1_mill (a custom cpl map), prodigy, cobble, and inferno.
  
  
  
  
• cs-classic now has a german website. their official site will be up soon. in some recently "open letters," the csc team promises to make future versions far better than the poor first release. their first effort scored a dismal 3/10 in our review.
  
  
  
  
• csports.net has posted their top maps stats page. cs maps lead the bunch: de_dust, de_dust2, and de_aztec are the most popular maps in online gaming. all good maps, but i think dust2 and aztec are just a tad better than dust. just me, apparently.
  
  
  
  
• five days from now, skinshack will celebrate a year! a year, that is, of absolutely no updates. that is astounding! and they still manage to have webspace! if you're looking for skins, be sure to check out our sotd archives (a bit small at the moment) or counterstrike center.

• greensoftline has released a new version of their cs utility program, cs tuner. version 1.0 allows users to edit more than 60 counter-strike options such as the ability to download and install skins, sprites, spraypaints and more. download the trial version of this shareware program here.
  
  
  
  
• palehorse has released v2.5 of his popular action pak replacing all player models, weapon models, sprites, sounds, splash screen, console and more. sounds good? go download it!
  
  
  
  
• if you liked the militia part 1 by the_family_god, get ready for a new cs movie called counter-strike: power struggle. some l33t dudes have just started working on the script for the movie, so look for some previews soon.
  
  
  
  
• malaysia world cybergames championship qualifiers will be running from august 3rd until september 21st 2002 in malaysia. a total of 5 games will be played during the event including counter-strike. also, the qualifiers will only be available for malaysians.

• the word from the [db4d] people is that the [db4d] lan date has been changed to nov. 30th and dec. 1st. food is also free now, and militia 2 will be shown on the bigscreen, for those who haven't seen it by then.
  
  
  
  
• gnsports is opening up a new league, and they need admins, recruiters, and more for their inaugural double elimination tournament (tourny sign ups here). if you're interested in becoming staff, sign up in this forum post.
  
  
  
  
• kcsa is organizing a 16 team 2v2 tourny. i'm not sure how successful or fun a 2v2 can be, but if you've been looking for a 2v2, then this is your thing.
  
  
  
  
• one of these kids is not like the other... sorry, sesame street reverie there. [me0w]p-chan sent us word that he found these funny cs handmade figures on ebay. there's 4 terrorists and 4 ct's, each about 12" tall and with an assortment of weapons. pretty neat looking, but at $82 a little pricey.

• esports just announced winners of their weekly cash tournament beta phase. starting today, the online tournaments will be weekly, with prizes from $500 to $2000, and they're still giving away 900 player cards worth $10 to new people who sign up.
  
  
  
  
• ngi is organizing a huge lan party and tournament in milan, italy from september the 13th to the 15th. the lan will also be hosting the italian finals of the wcg. first prize is 10,000 euros, which is around $10,000. more info here.

• nvidia has released version 30.82 of the detonator xp drivers for winxp/2000 and win9x/me. the new drivers add even more stability in cs for us nvidia-based video card owners.

• cstrike-fortress has updated its site with 20 new skins, and has also added a bunch of skin reviews to review each and every skin in their archives. they're planning to keep expanding their large skin archives, so keep visiting their site.
  
  
  
  
• team terrorvirus is holding a competition with a couple of neat prizes. the task is to design a three dimensional logo that glorifies the team in some way. first place will be awarded a steelpad 4s and second place will get a 3s. third place won't get anything because it'll probably suck. give them a click for more info.
  
  
  
  
• cheating-death was updated to version 3.3.1. the new version includes a handful of fixes and not much else. the official c-d site has the changelog and much, much more.
  
  
  
  
• cal-i clan dictators of fate were recently banned from the summer cpl for using an underage player. rixan, formerly of tsg, played for d0f at their qualifier in chicago where d0f beat tsg. tsg lodged a complaint, and the match was overturned. gotfrag posted an article clearing a few things up, and setting a few things straight.
